Sony G zoom lens e-mount 24-105 f/4 (Sony discount)

Sony has a $300 discount on its 24-105 f/4 lens. I've been looking for a good walk around lens, I find this focal range is good. Before I switched to Sony, had the same Canon equivalent lens before, it was the lens I usually kept on my camera.
This $300 discount is available at all stores that sell Sony lenses, I went to Best Buy and paid $800 for an open box one, excellent condition, missing hood.

2. Almost half the price (I got mine for 599).
3. The extra 100mm reach make it very versatile.
4. Aperture is bigger in 28mm~56mm.
The downside is you lost the 24mm~28mm focal range, and the aperture is smaller in 56mm~105mm. If this is not important then go get the tamron.
The image quality of these two lenses is very close.
