Different forms of these smart alarm clocks keep coming out, but they all continue to miss the killer feature, namely a battery backup so that time continue to be kept and an alarm will sound without power or network connection.
They all tell time. This one SHOWS time! Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuun.
TBH I have 2 of the Gen 3s w/clocks and they're well worth the extra cost.
The auto-dimming feature works great for the bedroom or bathroom. I hate the new ball. The puck is a much better fit for me.
There are some scenarios that time display is much needed. One example, will you ask Alexa what time it is in very early morning while someone sleeps besides you?

I had the old Puck version without the clock. I like the clock feature but it doesn't seem as sensitive to my voice as the old version.

Heard the clock tends to be too bright? Has that been fixed with new firmware? Is it dimmable now?

Ok, I thought it was my imagination, until I also got one for my daughter's house. Both have more problems than all the others combined. FYI we have 12 echo devices between us. But I have to agree. It's like the clock display causes ADD

I don't have that problem, and I am a light sleeper.

Just wake them up and ask them

"Alexa, what time is it?" I ask my $5 Version 3. I got others for free, several still in the boxes.

$33 is laughable.
Your method = 7 syllables. That's laughable. Try changing wake work to "Echo". Save a syllable. Then all you have to say is "Echo time". That's 3 syllables in case you're counting (and obviously, I am).

Data point: I always get away with saying "Lexa". But credit for using "Echo". Your devices won't respond when watching TV, videos, Zoom, et al mentioning "Alexa".

Glancing at the ones with clocks is so much easier than speaking anything and best for late at night in the bedroom or bathroom.
I sometimes turn off lights manually or hit the action button instead of using the wake word to avoid or minimize talking. EEK!

I am ready for the thought control implant to come out because I'm that spoiled. Oh and a 5X speed microwave/air fryer combo with Alexa built-in.

The new Alexa robot is a step in the right direction. I need a trustworthy servant.
I have a feeling my Cyberdyne stock is gonna split soon. I'm holding beyond Judgement Day

If they are the person who needs to be up and getting ready for work, and are sleeping/ignoring the alarm while I am now.wode awake, heck yes I will ask Alexa what time is it.
