Great price (only about $2.46 per quart) for all those that purchased one of those chain saw deals. If you haven't used your chainsaw, yet, they tend to go through this stuff fairly quickly.

Good deal. Worked for many years at a sawmill bucking logs. While bar oil is far better because it lasts longer and slings less mess around, pretty much any oil will work. We mostly recycled used motor oil, tranny fluid, or hydraulic fluid and they worked just fine.
twice as much on ebay as in $20
it lacks tackifiers and makes more of a slinging mess..
That being said any bar oil is good. not much difference between the super expensive and cheap. 2 cycle oil is more important(use jaso FD)

PS home depot everyday price is 12.97 for a gallon of echo bar oil.. not sure 10$ for blackmax is a stockup type of clearance.

Good deal. I have to hit my local store and may grab a gallon or two if it's the same price.

If i wasn't sitting on six or seven gallons of CountyLine from TSC's last sale I'd order some.

Thanks OP.

That's interesting... did some research and, agreed, canola oil is mentioned as a bio alternative to bar and chain oil. I'm guessing most manufacturers won't recommend it (if you know of any that do, lmk)... but for the home user, probably isn't a bad idea to consider. That said, the negative is that canola oil has really spiked in price in the last 2 years. So, it's not really a less expensive alternative, at least when you can get bar and chain oil for $10 a gallon (or even $7 at Rural King).

I use it on my electric pole saw. I'd imagine that bar oil wouldn't get as sticky when left unused for a long time.

I don't know about newer chainsaws, but we always use old hydraulic or compressor oil. You have to get rid of it anyways, so just put it in some old quart bottles. This isnt a demanding application.

Too bad you can't use worcestershire sauce, it is cheaper per gallon as seen on another deal.

Just make sure to empty before letting sit for anything longer than a month. Will gum up much more than bar and chain or just regular motor oil. I use it in my battery powered saw. Can be use to quarter deer etc food safe.
