1mg is more than enough, studies show. Not sure more than that is harmful but it's not necessary. Definitely break them in half or quarters

Yes, Puritan's Pride has been around for a long time. ConsumerLab tested their 2.5mg pills and it checked out.

I'd definitely try a lower dose if you haven't used melatonin (I use 1mg time release), but these should have the 5mg listed.

Cutting the pill may eliminate the time release function. This is true in RX medications, not sure about OTC.
