I got a pair of Samsons close to these a while back. They sound so good for the price.

TBH. My opinion is the opposite. I highly advise AGAINST getting this.

I got SR850 thinking they'd be a cheap AKG knockoff that I could easily toss in my bag and take to work. The sound quality not bad for the price. Remember which is about $25-30. So if you MUST keep your expectations within line of a $30 headphones.... That's what you get. Which ain't that great. Frown

BUT because the creaking from the cheap plastic housing from any slight movement, this ruins the entire purpose & experience of using these headphones. Comfort-wise the foam is cheap too. Why spend $25 on a pair of headphones only to spend another $15-20 replacing the foam padding make something more comfortable but still creaks when you shift slighty.

At this point, just spend a little extra and get the AKG 240 which is about $50 when it goes on sale.

I first heard of these from DankPods. I got these from AliExpress on sale and really love them. The pads are huge and comfy. I notice a lot of detail and separation in the sound. Bass is nice, more than my DT-770s, a little boosted. I think these are a nice dip into the audiophile world. I guess there is creaking and sound from the metal band, but I've been enjoying it as part of the experience.

Bought these from B&H a year ago when they were the same price. Largely use them for gaming and listening to music. No audiophile here, but definitely excellent reference headphones for $25.

These aren't exactly as portable as you'd think, so I wouldn't really bank on them being good headphones to "throw into a bag" and take on the go as someone here has stated. Only gripe I have is that the ear pads may start to hurt your ears after a while, which I had read about previously. I have fairly small ears and a small head so I figured the ear pads wouldn't be an issue, but I also have hard ears (cartilage is very stiff) so I eventually got different ear pads that make a world of difference.

In for another pair. Thanks OP.

What kind of replacement ear pads did you go with? I see a lot of options. I'm interested in trying memory foam pads one day.

Example pads from AliExpress:

I also bought these on a dankpods recommendation.

These sound phenomenal for the price. I can't entirely agree with the person above saying that they sound like $25 headphones. I've used $100 headphones that sound worse than these, and these regularly sell for $50+ when they aren't on sale. They're studio monitor headphones, so they're not going to be for people who like intense bass, but you really do hear all of the instruments clearly. Sometimes you'll even hear little creaks a movement from people recording the music.

The biggest downside to these headphones is the cable. The cable is thicker than other headphones, but eventually, it will short out even if you baby them as I do. In 3 years I've had to replace them twice. I'm not sure what kind of warranty B&H offers, but I would consider it 100% required. The other person who mentioned that they aren't very portable is also correct. I would consider using these at a computer and not out and about.

tldr: They sound great, but they aren't built well. Expect one of the speakers to short out after a year plus. Buy the warranty.

Got them for my son last year, when they were on sale.

Comfortable, but the ears pads have fallen off several times,
but at least they're easy to put back on.

Not really a good headphone while on the road, since the cable
is too long. Perfect for just chilling in a sofa.

After the 8 month I've owned them, the plastic cable shielding
has cracked at the 3.5mm plug, and you can see the wires.

I have a pair of these that don't have the blue accent. I like the sound and comfort well enough, and for $25 it is well worth it. The only thing I don't like is the non detachable cord. I might want to swap it out down the road if it gets damaged or just replace it with a cord I like better. It would also be nice to detach the cable for packing or storage.

These are good. They sounds good enough for daily use. I like they are "flat" in terms of audio profile almost like reference. Can't stand headphones that has weird EQ or overpowering bass. If you like how reference/monitor sound without going Somy MDR-7506, these are cheap alternative.

That indeed is the weak point. I am on my 3rd pairs over the past decade. The cord connection is always the part that broke.

Superlux makes these for Samson. Superlux also has a new model, the 668, for $10 more on Amazon that has more accurate mids and highs, a detachable cord, and does not get as hot. Comparison

Thanks for this. Gonna go for the Superlux HD668B: Rtings says the ear cups are bigger (over-ear as opposed to on-ear/barely-over-ear), more breathable (less heat buildup), and the detachable cable is nice too.

Curious why the thumbs down on your post.... suspicious when comment right below corroborated your creaky review (but enjoys it!?).
