$138 from LGB to Hilo. (Fantastic deal for people who struggle to pack light.)
All depends on where you are originating from and distance/date of travel/ popularity of routes. Operative word is 'starting' at $59

For example, every flight booked on Southwest includes 2 checked pieces of luggage and a carry-on item at no additional charge.
In comparison, most other airlines budget tier fares require additional fees for these items.
Southwest does not charge a penalty for any booking properly cancelled prior to the flight check-in deadline.
At the minimum, the full cost of your fare is retained as a credit towards your future Southwest flight purchase.
In comparison, most competitor budget tier fares carry a cancellation penalty and place a 12 month expiration on any funds retained as a credit.
As of July 28, 2022, Southwest Airlines no longer places any expiration period on funds retained from a properly cancelled booking.
I am looking from East Cost to San Francisco, and they come at higher prices.

I agree, but I also found SWA from ATL to be pretty cheap in general to compete with Delta. They're still pretty aggressive there to help maintain their passenger volume and retain all the gates they acquired from AirTran. I mean, $79 to Denver or $99 to Vegas are pretty normal.
Nerd source: neighbor is a captain out of ATL.
Earlier this year a flight between here and OAK was $800 round trip. I was able to book one, finally, for less than $275 after searching for different dates. Same goes for my SAN trip later this year. $336 round trip when they've been $800 or so too. After looking at several different trip dates, there was only one combination that got this low. The rest were $450+
For those who don't know, they usually charge about $35-40 per bag when you book your flight. $60-70 when you get to the airport and around $100 PER BAG if you choose to check it at the gate. Delta/American/United typically have a flat $35 per bag fee unless you hold status/credit card all while southwest charges nothing for anyone to check 2 bags any time.
For a family of 4 who bring car seats and such, those 2 free checked bags save us money quickly.

There is no seat reservation. You board according to groups based on how early you check-in the day before your flight (but you can pay to move up to Group A)
If you need to re-book close to travel dates, the fare will most likely be much higher.
Also, for long distances, most SWA flights will have a connection(s) meaning longer travel times.
All in all though, SWA is my airline of choice as Houston is one of their hub cities. They still serve free snacks along with drinks--no free meals, but I just bring something from home or purchase something at the airport to take on-board.
From all three airports, I found IAD to be cheapest but still no where close to those advertised fares.
