I have this model. My experience is with transporting full suspension mtn bikes. Fitting 4 bikes is a challenge and require frame adapters. Because of the tight fit I only transport 2 bikes at a time on the 4 bike carrier to avoid any scratches and damage to the paint finish. For transporting 4 bikes I ended up getting a Yakima hang-tight 6 bike vertical rack.

I have the FullSwing version of this attachment on our Mazda CX-5, which I have used twice since to carry 2 adult bikes. I have been pleased; although, there is some noticeable side-to-side wobble within my Curt hitch receiver. When bikes are loaded and even when driving, that wobble is not noticed, but it is still something that I would like to control. I tried ordering and installing a hitch tightener but the button depress lock on the attachment's tongue does not allow for standard size tighteners to be installed, where the width comes to ~2.75" and is too large for any ring clasp to fit over. I just ordered the following last night to try and combat this (see link below); other recommendations by Yakima included shimming the hitch receiver with soda can cutouts. I hope this helps anyone considering this model.

Check out reviews on REI. Looks like some folks experienced the rack bending with the 5 bike model. Maybe the 4 bike one is within the design threshold and the 5 was outside?

I'm seeing $29 for Fedex ground shipping - the cheapest option.
Is there a coupon or can I drop down the shipping cost somehow? TIA

I have this model as well and I could only fit 2 adult hybrid bikes. After buying the frame adapters, I was able to fit the entire family

BTW, this is a fantastic price for a Yakima bike rack. The best I've seen is open-box deals and REI's member sale at 20-25% off.

Any coupon for free shipping?

$44.78 for the shipping cost (Fedex Ground) is very expensive and steep.

it's great...only issue (big issue) on these is the lock mechanism breaks...happened to me. You can still use it perfectly, but it can be stolen. The way it is designed, you cannot use an aftermarket pin with a lock if the lock on this fails. For this price, that would not stop me from buying this. Just don't be rough with the lock if that makes sense.

When you're installing the rack, you need to move it left and right and top to bottom to fully secure the rack. That will take care of the free play your referring to.

Yes, I contacted Yakima support and they suggested that as well. Still side wobble occurs.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I'm just getting back into biking after several years and am in the market for something like this. I recently picked up a step-through Trek Vertex+2, would a step-through work on this style of a mount? The picture shows the latches attaching to the horizontal bar that wouldn't be present on step-throughs.
