Seems a good price, I bought it last May for $10.27.

CCC says the lowest is $6.97

Why not just buy a 40 pound bag of limestone for $5? It does the same thing.

Coverage has to be very very dense on application, since the granules only kill in exactly where they land. Speaking from experience with this product.

Can I apply lime without testing? In some parts of my lawn specially under big tress, the lawn does not grow. I have seeded it now but wondering if I should do lime treatment given its so cheap?

As makhanka said, lime prevents moss from growing. If you fix the pH of the soil it should kill it in the long run. I guess this stuck actually kills moss right away.

I refuse to buy any Scott's products once I realized the BS they do with their grass seed. (More weeds and annual seed than actual perennial grass seed in many of their bags.)

Used this earlier this year. This absolutely kills moss and is quite effective. I have some additional moss growing in other areas that were not treated so I'll be buying another bag. Thanks for the post!

Tell me about it, I had the same issue with Scotts. As someone with an obsession with nice turf, I bought scotts in a pinch and found weeds, crab grass, and a lot if organic material that was super dusty.

Best results ive had have been with Outsidepride their products are steller. Bought 30 lbs of bluegrass, weighed it at 36lbs in bag. Never had anything but wonderful results.

Yes Scotts sucks. Lime your yards regularly, it wont hurt.

I just had a thought - centipede doesn't grown well at all under my oaks but does under other trees. Moss pops up - I wonder if the oak leaves are altering the pH in a way lime reverses?

Would this be any benefit to St. Augustine grass in Florida with no moss?

Soils in our area are low in lime so I add it each year. It helps, but doesn't get rid of all my moss. MossEx turns the moss black and kills it so you can pull it out. Pulling it out without killing it leaves roots behind and it comes right back. That being said, moss takes advantage of your lawn's condition. Low pH, shade, moisture all promote moss growth.
You can buy a test kit, or better yet, collect a composite soil sample and send it to your state's local county extension service for a full analysis. Its not expensive and will tell you what you need to do to correct deficiencies. I bet that unless you have shallow limestone bedrock, you'll need lime.
