I've had this thing for a few years. It's been an absolute tank and it's super easy to use and clean. I bought my parents an Encore and while it does a great job, it's nothing special. Tbh I think this one looks better. At nearly half the price of an Encore, I'd say the OXO is a no brainer.
I only make french press coffee at home, and have been using a Kyocera hand grinder, until I fractured my wrist earlier this year. Recently I started grinding beans with the Kyocera again, with a dewalt drill

I see the metal container is supposed to reduce this. Any commentary on how effective this is?
IMHO this is "good enough" for pour over / batch brew types of brewing. Will not be good enough for espresso though.
I've been using the OXO grinder and 8-cup brewer every day and it's been great.
If you want to save some bucks I'd get this instead. Just depends on your goals with the grinder.
A little bit but it's not much. If static is a concern then spray the coffee beans with a little bit of water and shake then grind.
