Dumb question (as I do not have a generator so I do not know): In most video reviews I have seen for these types of generators with electric starts, remote starts, etc one of the things that seems consistant is having to apply the choke at first startup.

Am I missing something or does the fact that these often seem to have a manual choke defeat the purpose of the remote starter option/feature since you might have to go to the generator to apply the choke anyway. Or are there auto-chokes on the remote start models (maybe)

Doesn't appear that this generator is a remote start. This means you will have to be physically present to start the machine. The instruction manual for this generator states that before beginning either the electric or manual start procedure you must apply the choke unless the engine is already warmed.

Great question. I am not positive but I assume the point of remote start is just to not have to pull a cord. Even if you could somehow auto choke it from the house, I dont think it has a remote option to switch on the "power". To be clear, most generators you turn on the motor and let it run for a minute, then switch on the power generating part. When you turn it off, its best to switch that part off before turning the engine off.

There is a difference between electric start and remote start. This generator has electric start. As in "push button" instead of a rip cord.

Ahh, so that seems to answer the question. I started thinking of the Generacs, Kohlers, etc and those definitely do not require a person to perform manual anything which prompted me to ask.

Great price! My generator has been acting up and with a possible hurricane next week, now seems like a good time to pull the trigger.

The electric start is for someone who can't physically pull the recoil rope, but a choke lever requires no effort.
