I wouldn't recommend this set, but M12 fuel tools will do everything for 95% of people and are smallee/lighter than their 18/20v siblings. Lots of M12 Fuel tools will out perform rival 18v tools. I've built multiple decks with M12 tools over my M18.
I'm not in construction and totally respect the opinion of others who are. However, I use mine a couple of times a week, and you couldn't pry 12v from my cold dead hands and if you could you couldn't replace it in my clenched fists with 18v. My Bosch 18v just gather dust as my 12v Bosch and Milwaukee (ugh 2 systems, I know) paint the town red. The 18v's see the light of day when I need to use a hammer drill of course or a larger bit like an auger. I'll also break out the circular saw occasionally. If I have it handy I might use 18v drill for hole saws because the 12v can choke out of them a bit sometimes.
I carry a reciprocating saw, impact driver, and flexhead drill, flashlight, batteries, and other various hand tools and they all fit in a 13" tool bag. For sake of clarity, I am referring to mostly brushless 12v, not OP's set although I think that's a great deal.
Are they compatible?
Yes. M12 is compatible with all M12
The m12 tools are great, small, (relatively) lightweight tools. People who work with tools know the value of not having their arms fall off when they have to hold their tools in awkward ways for hours.
As for "pros", they tend to have bunches of everything, and not a single system. Each system has its strong and weak parts.
And it's not about "proving you wrong"; this isn't a pro wrestling match.

M12 is nice if you get the fuel line. The standard M12 line is practically useless.
In the past month alone I have run a 2" hole saw bit through a green treated 4x4. run 16 1/2 inch holes through another 4x4. I have also used a drum sanding attachment to clearance a piece of steel pipe. Not sure how much more one could ask of any cordless drill. Admittedly the batteries do not last terribly long when doing heavy usage / high torque work, but the drill itself has been rock solid. I would definitely want to invest in something more hefty if I made a living using a cordless, but for the average homeowner M12 is a solid choice IMHO. I am sure the Fuel is better but for the average joe it is likely not worth the premium in price.
