I was hesitant to buy the Elegia's when they first came out, but when they dropped to $400 a year ago, I snagged them and I have no regrets. They are amazing!

I got them for 349 less than a month ago - gonna try to request price adjustment from Adorama...

They have been a good pair of headphones with an upgraded balanced cable (Cardas Light), they sound like a closed pair of Sennheiser HD600 with similar soundstage. YMMV with amp used - mine is Fostex A4BL

I understand something like this needs a headphone amp but would a denon avr 3805 do just as good?

or a laptop or samsung s21 ultra... just trying to figure if I already have a quality source?

No vinyl in my life just yet but soon...

These aren't power hungry at all. No need for an amp. Start with nothing. If you want you can buy an $8 apple dongle and go from there. Opinions will vary.

I love my Focal clear. Now I can try closed back Focal for cheap. In my opinion amp will make any headphones sound better. It does not have to be very expensive amp but ........

don't be fooled by the MSRP. it's one of those things where they inflate the MSRP and then always have it on sale to make it look like you are getting a good deal. at this price, i would say that this headphone is okay. it's not the worst but not amazing either. at this point, you might as well wait until black friday to see if it can get down to 299 or something.
