Surely you dont need both sides of your sink available at all times. This is for those who don't want to take up counter space with a drying rack.
Ugh…. Now to decide if I want to get out of bed to go measure my sink. Dang you Slickdeals and my obsession to check for deals when I should be going back to sleep.
I have a difficult time wrapping my head around the real world use. My kitchen sink is constantly in use, even for hand washing. This rack seems obtrusive.

Generally, yes
You need a big sink to make it work. Use this on half and use other half for all day stuff

I've a small kitchen. Currently if I wash a large pot, I have to set it in the counter to dry, then have to wipe up the water. This would let me just leave it to dry. That's why I bought it.

This is for people with limited space. It's a life saver for me in my little one bedroom with not much counter space. It rolls up out of the way when not in use.

My "standard" builder grade double bowl stainless steel is something like 16x14 for each side so front to back 17 is perfect and leaves you a few inches on the side to run water/dump down the sink.

I don't have this particular on but I do have some 20x12 ones and they are longer than necessary for my sink but I still find it handy. When it's in the way just fold/roll it off to the side.

Probably, if they just sit on it. It can take the weight. Never occured to me too try with the cat that liked to try and drink out of things I was soaking. That being said. Cats be cats. It's pretty light weight. I'm sure it they wanted in once they figured out it can move they would head butt/push/smack/scoot it out of the way. With a heavy pot on top probably be good
