I purchased one for my wife as a work computer a few weeks back to replace a piece of junk HP which kept freezing during Zoom meetings and cursor always locking up. Anyway, the Dell looked perfect and operates great. No issues whatsoever so far. Also, there is no bloatware installed like many other laptops.

Are the refurbished 7280s worth it? That's the ad that comes up when I go to this page and see that there's not much left. One can get an I 5 6300 with an fhd screen for $150.. I haven't seen a $150 laptop for a long time so I'm assuming these probably aren't worth it?

God i need to learn more about computers. Luckily all I do is surf the web and watch YouTube.

I just noted last night that EOL for Windows 10 is currently scheduled for October 2025 and Windows 11 doesn't officially support anything older than 8th gen CPUs*. For us, a laptop in addition to a desktop is about convenience and a webcam, and $150 for 3 years is where I'd consider one more - though I was more tempted by the Gateway refurbs earlier in the year. Definitely try using Brave as your browser - blocking as much Javascript as you can makes a shocking difference. *And yes, I'd try Linux.

Picked up the i5 7280 1080 res for $150. Strictly for playing Battle Brothers on the couch and when travelling. Seems worth it to me.
