Most of the knocks against the 7xxx series has been the prices of the RAM and mobos. If you get the RAM free it makes the platform a lot more affordable.

Of course, the fact that a promotion like this exists at all probably points to tepid demand and concerns about oversupply. I'm guessing that we will start seeing some really good deals on PC components in the next few months.
Good deal but cheapest AM5 mobo is $260 there ($240 if you buy with CPU).
Because they get paid to use it

i couldnt believe there's one for $1000, more than the CPU itself. For $500, i can try to make sense out of it, but $1000, that is just crazy...

AMD recommends ddr5 6000 memory with 7000 series cpus. I'm sure slower will work, but I'm sure there is a reason youtubers are using ddr5 6000.

Last gen Ryzen was also very sensitive to memory speed. Infinity fabric ran at 1/2 ram speed. So slower ram also slowed that down. I understand 7000 is different, I know it's still tied together, but haven't worked with it and don't know specifics. But I'd still be wary.

Especially if you sit on it until the B650 boards come out. Fastest CPU on the planet, plus free RAM, and then pay normal price for a board. Everybody wins.

If you're wondering how they're affording this, prices on DDR5 6000 are dropping like a stone and Microcenter is sitting on a ton of slower RAM in inventory. Might as well give it away to sell a much higher margin CPU and hopefully get full system build sales.

(To be clear, Microcenter is awesome and everyone should patronize them if they can, just laying out their reasoning).

Looks like the cheapest CPU for this is the $400 Ryzen 7 7700x.

Good deal.

I'm really tempted to drive 40 miles to Microcenter this weekend for this deal. At $400 this combo is cheaper than what I paid for the 1st gen Ryzen 1700x + 16gigs of ddr4. Some bios tweaks will get the cpu running 65 degrees and sipping 85 watts on load. The big issue is the mobo situation. Will decent B650 boards be around $125 like the B350s were?

Yeah, that sucks. Most I'm willing to pay for a mobo is $150. I just can't justify any more.
