Although RE2 will get you a lot more content and playability in the mix. RE3, unfortunately, has been trimmed down by a lot over its OG predecessor (RE3: Nemesis). The game is fun to play, but the replayability potential is very low over RE2. Having the entire Raccoon City Saga is still worth the plunge. And with RE4make on the way next year, expect more Leon.
There is a mod to reduce the gore, looks like it just leaves blood spatter but all the body mutilation is removed. You can check out the video to see if it does the trick for you.
Body horror is kind of a key part of the whole series though so I don't know if any mod would really be enough.

I loved RE2 remake but waited for RE3 to drop under 10 since it's shorter and not as good. 8.99 is a good price though so I took the plunge. I actually found this deal before it was on slickdeals I feel bad now for not sharing sooner.

I like the gameplay of RE2 Remake but can't stand the gore.
I wonder if there is anyway to change it?
I believe it was censored in some international versions.
The developer said in an interview the disgusting gore is intentional because there are people who like it. To me though I'm really not into it. I'd rather play Devil May Cry or House of the Dead. Is there any RE game that does not focus on disgusting gore?

RE3 remake was a huge let down compared to 2, but it's easily worth 9 dollars. I love how the game starts, but it goes down hill fast, the OG version is way better, imo. Capcom's B team worked on it, and devoted most of their resources to a shitty multiplayer spinoff, that I played once, and got bored of.
As for Resident Evil 2 remake, it's a great game! Not much needs to be said, def worth the price! There is a funny bug where, the knife does more damage, the higher your FPS is. If your game is running at 120 FPS, the knife will do more damage than if your game was running at 60 FPS. Google it, it's pretty funny. I think at 240 FPS, you can one shot the final boss with the knife.

Resident evil has been violent since the first version and has only gotten better. Its a zombie fest! I remember Australia censored left for dead 2 , but i dont know if they have kept doing this. Interesting.

I'm actually fine with violent scenes showing cut off limbs, blown up heads, burning bodies and other violence but disfigured body parts and intestine dinners are really not something I would enjoy.(those seems to be the selling points of RE) I understand people have different tastes.
Looks like I'm gonna have to buy everything. Grew up and loved the Megaman X and Zero games. Haven't played them in a minute and it's gonna be perfect w/ the Steamdeck! 10yr old me is rejoicing
Is RE2 deluxe worth the extra few bucks over the regular?
also interested in knowing if deluxe version is worth the $2
This is what i found on Google:

But best I can tell is the MM games are at their lowest prices ever.
