For what it's worth, this is probably pretty close to the best of the super-budget tablets around this price. I have one of these guys as a "dirty jobs" tablet for keeping reference materials open while I'm doing car work or whatever and it's surprisingly fine. It'll do browsing, videos, etc. way, way better than something like the Fire tablets, which tend to become unusably slow under even light loads.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a try. It's been a while since I've had an android tablet. I just want to use it as a media consumption device for YouTube, plex, etc. and for web browsing. But the last time I tried an android tablet the app tablet support was pretty poor. Has that improved over the years? Do apps have better tablet layouts now or are they still scaled up phone versions?
correct me if i'm wrong, but purchasing this directly from Samsung with employee discount shows $84 (not everyone will have the discount, but for those who do).
I have a t307u which benchmarks higher than this, screen resolution better than this, and it's quite slow.. I'm interested to try one of these a7 lite to compare

Recently traded my A7 Lite in for the Samsung deal and the S7 FE.
The A7 Lite works well enough as a small media consumption device. Watching videos, emails, music: that sort of thing. No heavy productivity. I would consider this better than Amazon Fire tablets, especially since you get Google Apps and the Google Play Store on this one.
If you have a large sized phone (I have the S22 Ultra), this tablet can feel kind of redundant at times since I can do things faster and easier on the phone.
I originally purchased the A7 Lite to use the DJI Fly app with my Mini 2. It works ok at that. The screen is not bright enough to use in direct sunlight, but otherwise can function.
