Cheap luggage fan here. There was a time when I bought the super expensive brands with the lifetime warranty, and I learned that it all breaks. The difference is that with the expensive brands, you have the added hassle and expense of filing claims and shipping your broken luggage to the manufacturer for "free" repairs every few years.

So I'm reformed and happy to buy bags that cost 80% less, knowing that I'm way ahead if it lasts just a few years.

Bonus: I don't give a crap if, like all luggage, it starts looking worn.

So I wouldn't trash a bargain like this. It's a bargain. That being said, I usually look for better features and better reviews. Double wheels will roll better than these single-wheel bags, and reviews suggest that handles -- which shouldn't be hard to get right -- just crack or pop off when there's any weight in the bag.

2 year warranty
Other name brands have longer warranty. For driving trips they would probably last but a few flights and those wheels are going bye bye.

It's the cheaper option for hardcase luggage. You would be hard pressed to find polycarbonate sets anywhere near this. For a carryon you can get away with a fabric/soft luggage. For check in polycarbonate is preferred due to the abuse they can go through. For the price is this great either way.

Great points all around. I guess the only exception is and I don't know how often it happens, u don't want the wheels breaking while traveling. Had it happen before with cheap luggage

Battle scars are generally a plus anyway.

I once bought a TravelPro medium checked from Amazon Warehouse that was discounted close to 50% due to a a "large cosmetic imperfection," figuring that's a plus since it was black in color like a million other bags and whatever that cosmetic imperfection was would make it more readily identifiable. They sent me a brand new suitcase with tags, still in the plastic, no flaws anywhere. Totally false advertising. Sadly, I missed the return window so now I'm stuck with it. Mad

I once saw a bag on the carousel with a giant "L" sloppily spray-painted on it in a horrible brownish color. One and done theft-proofing baggage identifier. Or maybe the result of a divorce settlement...

I've had it happen before with cheap luggage, AND with expensive luggage. For what it's worth, I look for wheels (double wheels) that are attached with a really tight-fitting wraparound reinforcement. Any gaps are an invitation to damage.

Also FWIW, I've had decent luck with Travelers Advantage -- several inexpensive bags that have lasted a really long time. BONUS: When one of our old TA bags finally came off the carousel really banged up with a loose wheel, I was able to submit a claim with the airline and get a free replacement, but also was able to unzip the lining and re-attach the wheel -- turned out the nut came loose and was just rattling around in there.

Agreed. I hate how everything is a spinner now. Those casters will not survive any real use. I need a new full size suitcase and it's all that is available. I bought a a TravelPro two wheel carry on at Costco years ago. I was ready to buy a full size suitcase from them, but spinners are all that's available anymore.
