Not really.
you should always try pairing same brand and same model speakers.
Left right and center should have same tweeter and midrange size for better sonics.

Would this be good paired with the JBL 590s? I just received a Polk ES35 to try out too.

I would run with a phantom center or go for the infinity rc263 if you have the room for it. Currently using a jbl 520c with my 580s and it's decent if I manually boost it via my receiver. Usually I just run them with the 520 off and because they image so perfectly it sounds pretty nice

I understand that is normally the recommendation, but the general opinion is that the JBL 520c does not keep up with the 590s.

I am not sure if my receiver (RZ900) is capable of running a phantom center. So far I have not found anything about this capability.
As for the RC263, I have read about this as a recommendation in every thread, but it has not been available for quite some time. I have also read about the Emotiva C2+ but their return policy is not that great. The Monolith THX-365c seems to be a great option too, but it is also OOS with an ETA of late FEB 2023.

Looks like it's called center spread on your Onkyo.
That's a common issue with those 5 series JBL's, that very weak center.
Having helped with that dilemma, unfortunately the only good option is the RC263.
Can you get away with the C2 & 365c sure. They would be a much better choice than doing a phantom setup IMO.
This center is absolute weak garbage. Had it for maybe 3 years until I realized that, upgraded to the 400 series and there's a world of difference
It's not that bad honestly. I've owned it for over a year and am pretty happy with it. There's always going to be better options but I wouldn't call it garbage.

I agree. I've had it for a couple of years and it's not bad. What mains are you using?

I purchased it as a set from Costco. Running the R-625FA mains and R-41M surrounds. I'm very happy with the setup. The surrounds aren't my favorite but still not bad. I upgraded from the Polk Series II speakers. The Polks had a warmer sound but the Klipsch are so much punchier IMO. The irony is that I barely get to push them without pissing off my wife or scaring my dogs haha
I have a HKTS 16 which I suppose is a HTIB which has dual 3" with a single 1/2" tweeter in all 5 speakers set up in my workshop. Would replacing the center or adding an extra in this give it more oomph? I don't really care much about perfect balance as I'm in all corners of the shop at various times and its only used for music.

This one isn't wall mountable I believe. The larger ones have slots for wall mounting. For this you'd just need a shelf.
