Renewed HDD? No, thank you.
'Back in the day'… 2014, I put two of these drives, 2tb, in a raid 0 config. As of today, 8 years later, they are still going strong. I use them for a lot of my games that ssd speed isn't really a major requirement for loading times, etc. and keeps my ssd freed up for the newer stuff I'm playing through. Haven't had a single problem with them and debating using them again in my new system, when I build it over the next week or so. Id really like to get a large 4tb ssd, is still a bit too expensive to justify, especially when I have these drives still working fine.
Obviously I don't know if the internals have changed much, but my old wd black hdd's have been great.
I wish the still made raptor drives!! Good old days.

I know that the WD Black drives are reliable and a fast 7200 RPM, but what makes this a "Gaming" drive?

Just that it's 7200, lol it's like when they say "gaming" motherboard. Might have slightly tweaked fw for random reads, but just bmjargon to get some of that sweet sweet gamer money

To be fair, it's just a hold over when 7200 RPM was fast, in the time before SSDs.

These were good drives. Best I've owned. But after switching to SSD's there is no going back.

After the masses stop getting poked for "new" tech by the cheaper to produce SSDs I'll be replacing all my old mechanical drives.

These are $20/TB. I would personally look for another CMR drive for under $15/TB. You can find a 14TB refurbished exos on ebay for $150 with a 1 year warranty if you need a lot of space. I bought one, just know that they are pretty loud and you won't find that in the spec sheet.

How is this "gaming"? I see no RGB and is not overpriced chair or desk.

Seagate Exos 16… $10.xx /TB off EBay when you buy 16TB

Looks like these have a 128mb cache. I bought a 6tb 7200rpm drive with a 256mb cache for my steam games since these "gaming drives" arent all that great on their spec sheets. Games loaded about 30% faster when i went from a 128mb cache drive to one with 256mb. Here's the one i bought which is cheaper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WGJLD33
