Lutron sells a Pico with relabeled buttons specifically to control Sonos speakers, but they're around $39. I had a lot of these, so I used a label maker to cleanly relabel these. You just set these up as the Sonos Pico in the app. Adjusts volume, play/pause, and play next/play last.

If you use Home Assistant and have Lutron integrated, these are great general use remotes. Once they've been added in the Lutron app, you can unbind them from any Lutron device. They'll still be accessible in Home Assistant's Lutron integration, and you can use automations to bind the buttons to actions for most any device you have connected to Home Assistant. I use one as a garage door opener, another controls power and settings for a dehumidifer, another is a trigger for a series of actions, etc.

I replaced my Zigbee remotes with Pico remotes because the connectivity/reliability has been so much better.

Why all the Lutron deals lately? Are they changing products or leaving the old stuff behind?

That's because they're becoming obsolete. Most of us are using apps or Alexa, Google, Siri... etc. to control just about everything. Perfect for my parents who still can't get the hang of smart devices and NEED a physical remote. But this deal is just for the remote. You still need the switch hub thing-a-majiger to to work. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You need hub

This has physical button

And all of the smart integration

Also has best reliability

And can work offline without internet

Your correct about the switch and hub. But I'd say it's much more than "just for old people." The picos fit into a wall plate and let you add a 3-way switch ANYWHERE! On cabinetry, pocket door walls, masonry walls. It's quite the game changer for convenience.

And the Casesta system in general is the most robust of any big brand smart platform (Hue, Kasa, SmartThings, etc). Never disconnects, does not need internet to operate, does not pollute your WiFi with individually connected pieces. Buy the starter kit with hun, switch, and pico. You'll be hooked!

whoa - wait .... do you need a lutron specific hub? Or can you pair a switch to something like Home Assistant or SmartThings?

Using these for Sonos is no brainer. And $10 bucks each is a steal. Dual pedestal is on sale too for $10.58. Great if you have two remotes.

You need the Lutron hub (unless you're directly controlling a Lutron device, in which case the remote can talk directly to the device). These use Lutron's extremely reliable ClearConnect, not zigbee/Z-wave/etc.

With a Homebridge plugin, you can use these for any Homekit devices, not just Lutron connected devices so you can make them do pretty much anything.
