Be warned - the battery version doesn't like the cold. I have mine wired, and when it was below freezing for a while in MI, it stopped charging the battery. And when the battery drained, it shut off completely (you can find many reports of this). If you live in a place where it is consistently below freezing for many days at a time, I'd avoid the battery version entirely
I think it's worth it for 20. It's not bad. When I'm in the office I use it to look at the camera or play a game. Also the photo frame is super nice
Ordered, seems like a good deal considering Nest Doorbell Battery is at lowest $120 on sale and the nest hub is $50 at the lowest on sale. Combined with Costco warranty, seems worth it for anyone who'd rather avoid Ring's security and privacy issues.

How long does the battery hold a charge?
Are these rechargeable or reg batteries?

Hmm, wondering if the nest hub 2nd gen is worth the extra $20. Heard it's crazy sluggish but does anyone have any experience on using it just as a doorbell thing?
We picked up the doorbell and an outdoor cam on a deal at Target a few weeks back, they also offered the Hub for $50. so we bit--we ended up returning the Hub. We don't use Android phones or Google smart speakers, but I was hoping it might come in handy as a touch interface for the Hue lights for family/sitters who weren't hip to asking Siri, and for interfacing with the doorbell. I found it to be slow, and the home screen was not really customizable, making it inconvenient for quickly dealing with the lights or the doorbell cam. It's too bad, it seems like a well built piece of hardware. I ended up using an old Google Home Mini that came free with some promo a couple years ago for a doorbell chime (mic turned off)--along with notifications via the Google Home app on our phones

How many volts are you seeing at the doorbell wires? I'm seeing about 19, where I live it just barely dips below freezing at night--nothing like MI. I'm hoping a transformer change isn't needed.

The hub is horrible. It's sluggish, not customizable and it's hard to swipe between screens. You have to swipe two to three times as the screen does not read your swipe too well.

I have the nest doorbell and 2 cameras and it takes forever to bring up the video feed. Pressing to talk also takes a good 30 seconds.

The battery can't charge if wired when it's below 32 deg. It says in the manual. So if it's below 32 for an extended period of time you need to charge inside occasionally.

Depends on how much camera detects activities, but supposed to be average about a month. I hooked this battery version to my existing wire (11V which is pretty low) yesterday and the status says it is plugged in and battery percentage is ♾️.

Is it worth upgrading to this nest doorbell (battery) from a 1st generation ring doorbell? (I have Google annual subscription for Google cameras and have an android phone)
