Everybody is different in dimensions and preference. You have to go try them. Sorry it's not the answer you want, but it's the reality. You can go read a million reviews and then think it sucks or you might find one with worse reviews that works for you better. I've had both happen, so I won't make a recommendation other than to say, go visit the local dealer and spend 30 minutes in each chair, then pick.

I know the Gesture is widely loved, but I returned mine for an Embody. IMO, Gesture build quality does not feel like a $1K chair — and the arm rests do not lock. So, every time I sat in the chair, I had to readjust the arm rests. Drove me crazy. Definitely a YMMV type of thing, as most people may not notice or care.

It's very difficult to move the arms accidentally. No idea what you're on about.

Check Craigslist and Google Maps for local office furniture liquidators. I bought a Steelcase Criterion that was reupholstered by the liquidator for around $200 years ago. Those retail for over a thousand dollars.

Herman Miller Aeron, Steelcase Leap, and BodyBilt are the ones to look for, in my opinion.

Please stop posting these "deals" on Steelcase chairs. I just saw an ad yesterday from a local office furniture supply warehouse that was selling this exact chair for $200 with free delivery.

Just Google "office furniture surplus" in maps and start calling around, you can get almost any model Steelcase/Herman Miller/whatever chair for $150-300

I've been buying and selling these things for decades and I have two leap chairs personally that I bought for $25 each from a school surplus. Put new shocks in them for 20 mins of my time and another $50 total and the chairs are used like new condition.

I have one of these for my gaming chair, LOVE IT! One of the best most comfortable chairs I've ever sat it. 200 bucks from office liquidations from everyone bailing on offices during pandemic.

I've yet to sit in a refurbished or remanufactured chair which feels like the original in this price range. They always use inferior cloth, leather, or casters to the original. This changes the whole feel from original.
They typically use a wet shampoo machine to clean the fabric which changes the foam or cloth inside the seats.
I'd never recommend purchasing a chair in these price ranges without sitting on the specific chair you will actually receive.
If you're close to their warehouse most have a showroom and you can go in and test them.

Nice price but if you are willing to wait you can usually find a chair of this level and newness on Marketplace for about $400. It may take weeks or months but eventually something will pop up.

I have no experience with this model but do use a Steelcase Leap and think it's the best overall chair I have ever used. It's comfortable, adjustable, very well made and extremely durable. It's a chair that you can use every day all day and it will last years.

I also have two Herman Miller chairs and they are OK for shorter periods of time, but don't support as well and are nowhere near as durable. I had to replace several parts on both chairs in the last year. There is an ample supply of parts from 3rd party suppliers which is good because Herman Miller always directed me to their local resellers for any kind of parts or support. None of which are near me and all of which make it hard and expensive.

A good chair is well worth the money but there is no chair that is best for everyone.
