SVS Outlet sale for Cyber Monday. Check the description, some models have minor blemishes, but all are backed with the same 5-year warranty.
For <$500 budget, the PB 1000 (non pro) is great. From my research, the PB 1000 Pro performs close to the PB 2000 non pro. The non-pros are all discontinued but are still sold in outlet sales.

I kid I kid. Your wife is super hot!
If that doesn't work tell her that there is a 5% off on dual subs or return customers.
If that doesn't work either tell her a single sub looks asymmetrical and dual subs look far better and proportionate in the room.

wife likes something small. Is PB2000 sound substantially better than SB2000?
We may put sub down on HT once i frame and finish the basement (15x15x11) in next one year and until then it sits on living room (15x20x11). Either way we arent bass boomers, just need good depth, clarity and little bass on the movies we watch (I like good bass, wife doesnt, wife wins on living room). Very less on loud music, mostly classic/jazz with light music.
New to the HT, too bad, BB doesnt have the models on floor to test. Since you already own 3000, you might know the differences. Any suggestions?
Yes unfortunately the days of being able to easily walk in and listen to something are long gone.
I'm familiar with both, unfortunately way to many factors come into play and sound is subjective but here is my take.
You kinda described the pros and cons of both.
Wife will like the smaller footprint of the SB but will it give you enough depth for you to define as "good".
If you're set on SVS, the good thing is they give 45 days,no cost to return it and if it comes down to it a year to upgrade.
If your preference is open you could look at other common brands that people talk about in here(ie monolith,REL,HSU,etc) that might cost less.
People love to argue which is better and all their justifications why but TBH having heard most of them it comes down to a preference and you would only find that out by auditioning them for yourself.
IMO they are all good at that level and can't really go wrong with any of them.
Generally ported is liked/preferred for movies.
To get enough depth from a sealed comes at a price(and preference).
If it's SVS you want I suggest giving the PB a shot & if your wife is ok with it and you like it your are all good.
Luckily they are both on sale still.

Hope that helps and good luck.

After going through done more thought I ordered speedwoofer mk2 from rsl and wireless kit. Total $500, no taxes.
I spend very little movie or tv time. So if this rsl speed subwooker sounds good to my ears, will just keep it and enjoy time. May not order the svs. But if this doesnt felt good then i will order from svs.
You cannot have both😂
