I grabbed this for $150 a couple months ago and absolutely love it. The amp is just meh, but I use headphones most of the time, anyway
Edit: add a cheap pedal or two if you don't mind the clutter, you'll be in good shape.
Edit: action is a bit high and the fret edges are kinda sharp, but I have no touble playing it decently (especially coming from acoustic…just added some heavier strings)
Meh!!!
They were giving this guitar with amp and accessories free with one year fender play sub just few weeks ago for 150.

Buy from a freaking music store where you can actually try out the equipment and get it set up. Stop pumping this company just because you get fat kick backs
Great deal, but have it set up before you give it to your kid. Nothing will kill a kid's desire to play an instrument like an instrument that is not fun or easy to play. Squiers are great, but they usually need to be properly set up by a professional. It's well worth the extra money.
This is an outstanding deal. Grab a sanding block, and sand the frets. Lots of YouTube videos. These guitars are just unpolished masterpieces that need a little TLC. Jimmie Hendrix started out on one of these. Awesome Christmas gift for just about anyone.
The tremolo makes this guitar a waste. I picked up this set during the last slickdeal. I wish I had gotten the hard tail instead. These low end models with tremolo, will not stay in tune no matter how hard you try. They won't even stay in tune, tuning from one string to the next.

I was skeptical, too, but this thing hasn't needed retuning in a couple weeks with daily play. I never screwed in the tremolo bar, I just left it in the bag. I could see that being a factor.

So glad I got that deal. Re-sold the guitar, and essentially got Fender Play for a year for $15.

Any suggestions on a decent headphone for this specific model?
Currently using my daughter's old pair of $4 school headphones. Still better than the amp
