These things are terrible in a dark room. I bought one a few months ago and had to send it back because of that. There's an "adaptive brightness" that can't be turned off so if your room isn't bright enough then the clock can get too dim to see.
Please note, this is the Alexa enabled version vs the Google Home enabled version.
I stopped buying Alexa products a long time ago when I asked:

Me: "Hey Google, how long does it take to get to <some other town>?"
Google: "By car, it will take you X minutes with current traffic."

Me: "Alexa, how long does it take to get to <some other town>"
Alexa: "I can tell you that <town> is X miles away, but because I don't know how fast you're going, I can't tell you how long it will take."

Does it actually stay at the level you set it to though, or does it revert back? In my experience it would revert back shortly after changing, and Lenovo confirms this behavior in Amazon's FAQ:

Not in my experience. I've been using it for a few months it never revert back to automatic. In fact I find manual too bright at night I prefer automatic. Yes, it gets really dim when it's completely dark but you wouldn't want even a small brightness it will likely disturb you at night.

You know you can turn this off right?
The photos that you shared appear to be the "Smart Clock 2", which has a LCD touch screen display, and uses Google Assistant.

This thread is talking about the "Smart Clock Essential", which has a simpler LED non-touch display, and uses Alexa.

The brightness controls are different due to the different display types.

Is it possible to have this clock play a Spotify song as an alarm?

Was able to buy this (Blue) a month ago. Worked great and then screen would freeze 1-2x a day. I registered it with Lenovo. They sent a replacement - 2 days. New one works great. Good warranty and CS. Guess I had a lemon. Remember to register for the 1 year replacement warranty, no cost, basic warranty.

I just ordered the red one. I used the discount code and had reward points and free shipping. Good basic alarm clock with Alexa. I hate bright alarm clocks. This gets very dim, perfect for me. Other basic controls are in the app.

The other clock mentioned is their other newer model (Smart 2). It is Google based with a touch screen. Looks like an improvement over last years Google version. I am used to Alexa/Echo devices and prefer the Echo Show 5/8 over Smart 2. Just my preference.

So, two very different clocks. The more basic version with Alexa works better for my needs.

I was until I compared the two for my use case. I want a mono clock that shows time and temperature, that's it. I worry the 2 with its color display might be too "glowwy" for a nightstand.

A couple of annoyances with the Essential now that I have set it up... the blinking clock colon cannot be set to unblinking, and if you turn the mic switch off you get two red lights that come on and stay on the clock face. All remedied with black electrical tape pieces, but I would have preferred a customization option for those.

edit:
Never mind, it helps to remove the thin plastic film on the front of the display, it was covering both mic's. now works much better Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I received one of these yesterday, I also have the version 2 with LCD on the way.
We have both eco systems in the house Alexa/Google

Anyone that has this basic clock have issues with the mic? I can't find a sensitivity setting and we have to yell just to get it to respond.
Yes the mic is on.

Thats what i like about this clock. I can sleep with this clock. Most other clocks are too bright for bedroom usage. i guess it all depends on how sensitive your eyes are. I like how this clock can auto adjust brightness. I have two already and will buy more for back ups.

I too prefer this model than the full lcd display version. Important for bedroom usage.

The 2 has a weather watch face. The essential doesn't
