Not sure if I've seen luggage without zippers

I travel way too much tbh so I've done a lot of google searching on luggage, and zipper-less is recommended for the highest security while traveling.

They just use latches instead of zippers.

I've considered them before, but they're usually really expensive and if you take your valuables in your carry on anyway, then there's not much of a point in securing your dirty undies.

Zippered luggage is extremely easy to break into using the "pen trick" as I've seen on YT. Even if you have built in TSA locks, someone can still open up your bag and zipper it back up without using the combo or a TSA key.

For me personally, I don't see a reason to secure my clothes, so I'll gladly use a regular suitcase, but for people who travel with a lot of valuables or their entire Gucci wardrobe, it might be a different story.

FWIW, if you've ever heard of RIMOWA or seen someone with one of their bags, then you actually have seen a zipper-less suitcase since I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of their bags have no zippers:

https://www.rimowa.com/us/en/lugg...73044.html

I mean, if you're dropping almost $2,000 on one piece of luggage, it would be crazy if they didn't have better security than a standard suitcase.

And therein lies the problem (for me at least). You pay $70-80 for a medium piece that I would never use. Why would one check in a piece that doesn't maximize one's allowance? Of course, some may like a medium piece. I'd just never travel with one.
I almost never use the largest one in these sets because I hate lugging around the gigantic ones when I can avoid it. Just so bulky, especially on transit or in a small hotel room. Still nice to have it.

Own this set already , grabbed another now. Thanks op. Anyone care to share a link for the replacement wheels please ? Thanks

Got one on in May, one of those wheels came off after a single trip. Those wheels looks flimsy and attached with tiny rivets. I have contacted Samsonite for warranty, but they need it to be shipped on our cost. Probably not worth it if you are not near their repair center. Even if you take it to one of their own stores, they will ask for shipping cost 💰.

Looks like this is a common issue with this. Have you found any replacement wheels?

On the other hand, some airlines will not allow 28 inch that has maximum dimension of 58 inches including wheels.

In case anyone is wondering, the REASON you have medium and large is mainly so you have options to bring smaller suitcase if needed. I have done many trips that are just a few days, where maybe a carry on alone wouldn't cut it, but I really don't need the large size.

Also, it is useful if traveling with kids. I have kept a large one for myself, whilst my younger teenager gets medium size one. She owns her own nice carry-on, but I haven't needed to buy her a full size set yet.

So, for $70 more, I don't see the big deal. Go for the 3 piece.

I'm literally on an international trip right now and used all three pieces with this set. They're really strict on international flights with carryon luggage and this one is technically over by an inch but looks small enough that it gets by and is tough enough to survive check in if it doesn't. We used both the medium piece and the large piece. I'm not sure if you just travel in first class and have a higher weight limit or what but for us our check in limit was two pieces of 50 lbs each. It's really easy to reach that limit in the medium piece and somewhat difficult, but doable, to be under that with the large piece. Sure when the limit was always 70 lbs 20 years ago medium pieces might not be useful but these days weight is a far greater challenge then size. Overstuffing your check in bags is just not an option anymore.

And so far these bags have held up great. Granted I haven't even completed a whole round trip with them but they roll really easy when packed and so far look and feel brand new. We'll see how long they last though.

One thing to note is that these are split right in the middle. So you have to be careful about weight distribution and packing noting that when you open it you'll have to flip half of the luggage over which can get heavy and on the side without the zippered compartment if you don't pack it correctly stuff can fall out easily if for instance you have to open it up to redistribute some weight because you're used to flying when the weight limit was a lot higher.

All of these spinner wheels are trash.Maybe ok for the trunk of a car but not an airplane or rolling on the street. Skateboard wheels are much more rugged.

Most national and international check in luggage have 62 inch and 50 lbs limit. Which airline has be 58" limit?

I have heard great reviews about Cool Life 3 piece luggage set at Amazon. I ordered one for $159. Reviews says it's better than Samsonite

We flew Allegiant recently, the max weight you can carry is 40lbs for checkin. There was so much space left in the suitcase. I wished i had a medium sized suitcase which would possibly weigh lesser and right size to carry all our stuff.
Having said that I would rather have 2 full size suitcases as that is what I would use most of the time.

I almost never travel with more than just a carry-on and personal bag. On rare occasions I'll check a single bag as well for a long vacation or something. I was looking for a two piece set with the carry-on and 24" suitcase. I ended up getting the three piece Winfield 2 on a good deal ($216 after cash back) but I may never use the largest bag.

Just because I could carry a larger bag doesn't mean it benefits me. It will always be heavier, more unwieldy, tougher to carry and get in a car. Bigger is only better if you actually need the space.

Glad they make 99.999% of people pay for something they never use to make 0.001% of the folks happy that do use it

For starters they don't make you pay for anything. Luggage is available individually and in all manners of two piece, three piece, and larger sets. If you don't want something, don't buy it.

And you're a damn fool if you think less than one percent of people use the medium sized bag. I think I've used my largest suitcase once or twice in my life. Hell, it's rare I use anything bigger than a carry-on.

Not everybody travels with half their entire house. If you need a big bag good for you, but don't make the mistake of thinking everybody is like you.

You're a damn fool if you think you can fit half your house in a 28 inch suitcase while a 24 inch suitcase is very reasonable and normal. bounce

That's very interesting. Which ones? I've clocked up well over a million miles, touched down in 50+ countries, always travel with very largest pieces, never an issue, not once.
