SanDisk 256GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-256G-G46 - 256GB for only $18.91. sold and shipped by Amazon. if you do not see Amazon as seller check under "Other sellers" and choose Amazon.
I have had a 128GB one for almost 2 years always plugged into my work laptop and it's been holding up like a champ despite all the rough handling and abuse. I wanted more storage and stumbled upon this at a great price. The form factor is very small and makes it super portable and probably easier to lose too!

The problem is that the heat issues aren't just a comfort thing. An overheating USB will throttle speeds, and can damage equipment. Maybe they've fixed the throttling (or maybe not), but the old versions of these would drop to speeds well below USB 2 standards after a minute or two of being plugged in.
Why bother with all that? Samsung drives are the gold standard at this point, and aren't much more money.
