I just recieved the invite.
My invite said can pre order from now until February 22nd. Or until supplies last.
Does that mean I can sign in like after Christmas and still order one if they have any more? I don't want to do it right now.
Feb 22 is after Christmas, so yes, that is exactly what that means.
They're "bleeding money" for the same reason signing up for Facebook or Instagram is free. Or why most Google services are free
No, he's most likely referring specifically to the gross over investment into the metaverse to the tune of $10b a year loss with zero real gains, and tech demos that bombed.
I don't see how that benefits oculus / quest users though. The games aren't cheap, the headset isn't cheap, and they data mine the F out of you in the process.
Having a quest, and psvr, and playing those top games and such with PCVR on the quest...I'm not convinced it's the future of gaming anymore. They're fun, briefly, then gather dust. Over and over. Small spurts of using them, saying it's neat and fun, and then putting them down for normal gaming.
The games are fun and all, but I think it's not as much fun or rather the costs and equipment management and doing the whole VR thing just isn't quite worth the time/effort/money for me vs stand alone console or pc gaming. Just not quite there in the amazing factor.
Gimme a wireless headset that can do both vr and AR decently and that's the win. Blending reality with gaming would be better. Quest, rift, Google glasses, xbox kinect..all of these technologies, I think, are going to culminate into something awesome, we just haven't seen it yet.
No word on when this will be available elsewhere? I liked the original VR and won't go near anything requiring FB, but it's no secret this is a tad high. I wanted to order somewhere where I can soften the blow with gift cards.
I paid $150 for the OG PSVR in 2020. Games were $10 then. Cool device but I can't sit for 4 hours in that headset like I would on a weekend in front of the Xbox/PS5. Going to wait on this one.
If at least some of the bigger VR game devs update their games for BC on this new headset I might consider grabbing one sooner than later. But for now it's wait for a sale.
Only getting this is Sony adapts this to the PC, or starts allowing adults games on their console.
Not sure if the PS5 has enough vram to load / make some of the custom mod characters that I render, also in normal adventure games.

Ah, good one. 😁
I do miss PS Vue's 3 channels split screen.
