So youre saying by the time i reedem the card it will have like $35 on it? Cause not quite sure how you can lose money on this lol
I'd love IHOP but the prices near me are absurd imo. The classic pancake combo is $16 near me. A 5 stack of basic pancakes is $12.30. Flavored pancakes are $14.... that's all before taxes and the tip as well. Good deal at 20% off for the gift cards of course though.

Yeah the prices have gone through the roof. For a while there, their omelettes were bumped up to like $16-$18, but guess even they realized it was ludicrous to pay as much for an omelette as a ribeye.

Took like 30 minutes of trying, but finally got it. Kept getting a "we are experiencing unusually high volume" and it wouldn't take me to checkout.

With the way inflation is going you'll probably lose money by the time you redeem it. Gift cards are never a smart purchase in inflationary times.

Fair point but this is 20% off. As long as you use it within a year I would guess you would be fine unless you think there will be more than 20% inflation sooner than that.

That being said that if you were going to spend $50 at IHOP anyway then regardless of when you use this card it will effectively still be 20% off your meals.

Agreed, but my comment meant more for the people that buy cards and hang onto them for a while which is a large percentage of folks. How many of us have unused gift cards hanging around from last year? I know I still have quite a few.

That doesn't make any sense. Even if the omelette goes up to $20 a year from now, I'd still have to pay $20.

Check out their Hoppy hour menu, $8 burgers aren't a bad deal, and bogo milkshakes are everyday at the ones near us make it not a bad deal.

Yes, but you'd also have the option to NOT buy the $20 omelette and decide to make your own omelette. The point is the intrinsic value of the gift card decreases with inflation. This is basic economics.
