These are snap lids that do not have a spring. I have had mine for 7 years and finally replaced a couple after the rubber on the top of the lid was getting soft and sticky.

After owning over a dozen cantigo mugs , I will never buy them again. The spring release inside the mug eventually rust and then it is a very hard to clean inside of the lid. If you drink any type of drinks other than water. If it's water no problem. But if you like to drink coffee or put juice in there then it will eventually grow mold after a months of use no matter how often or frequent you wash the lid.

That's crazy I have a few that are years old at this point where the springs aren't rusty and no mold. I do run them the the dishwasher after each use though.

These are snapseal which I like. These dont have any springs. Simple, effective & no mold.

Whether there is any issue with the lid or not, when I am putting hot drinks in the couple snapseal contigo units I have, it begins to taste awful after a while like couple of hours max, even though the drink is still considerably hot. I used to think I am the only one but I have seen other people complaining about the same in the reviews posted on various places. Probably because of the stainless steel construction and also trapped steam particles accumulating on the plastic lid and dripping back to the drink again. I will recommend to stay away from their units if you are sensitive to the taste of your hot drink. I don't face this issue with the travel mug I bought from Starbucks.

Picked up a pair of the 20oz at my local Walgreens. Fyi they also had a couple other smaller Contigo models on clearance for 75% off. I wanted the larger 20oz so just went with these. Thanks OP!

Had two for over 10 years. Same spring release. No rust. They go in the dishwasher every use. My brother had to replace one lid out of 4. Also going strong for a decade.

Yes, I have one of these. I didn't use it for few months, now it smells like mold. Washed it many times but smell doesn't go away.

That's what I'm thinking too. There is no spring on the travel mugs. The cap is very tight (which is good) and can be extremely difficult to open especially with hot water in it. Heat build up seems to add a bit of "suction" that makes it even tougher to open the cap. I release the pressure by twisting open the entire lid. I can hear "pffft" sound when I twist the lid open. Great mugs for coffee.

i went to CVS earlier today and saw this on the shelf, i scanned the barcode to see the price and it showed not even the right item. it was some kind of a cologne for $30 lol so CVS has it, just not in their system anymore
