Bought this exact TV during black friday. I returned it after a week due to crazy dirty screen effect, and light bleed. Also, I simply cannot recommend the operating system. Google keeps getting hung up, slow and not very responsive. I have since purchased two more google tv's - a Sony OLED and a Hisense Qled.. both have the same issues with the operating system. I swear I wish we could upgrade our TV's with some RAM or something lol. Even my 7 year old roku is more responsive. Don't know whats the deal.
I'm not aware of a cheaper 65" on sale at the moment.
Definitely worth the $50 more for this Hisense

In Costco they play samples on loop on the displays. When looking at this tv and compared against the 2 next to it, there was some brief stuttering on the nature scenes. Not terrible but it's there.

Dang, if it was 75" for $500, I'd be all for it. 😁

I got this 75" TCL Roku TV for $500 around Black Friday for my father and he loves it. I would probably grab another one today if it was still that low. I need a new bedroom TV and don't need all the bells and whistles of a higher end TV.

Hello, I'm not well versed in technology at all so please excuse my dumbness in the subject, I'm in the market for a new TV, but I need to know what's feature I should be looking for to ensure that when I'm watching HDR content, it doesn't look so dull, dark and washed out.
I picked up a TCL over the holidays and I'm
so disappointed in the picture. Watching the same shows via my roku plugged into my Panasonic plasma dumb tv is so much more vibrant. It's almost unwatchable on some scenes and adjusting the settings does nothing. I get the feeling it's my TV that's lacking something, but I'm just not sure what feature it is. Please help. Thanks in advance.

TCL sucks, in my opinion. I have the 4 series and it's dark. Nothing special. But it's a cheap 75"

Coming from a Panasonic plasma you might want to wait for a good price on an oled tv. To me it's the closest technology if you don't want to feel like you're downgrading in terms of both color and contrast. Of course depends on your needs.

Thank you!

I don't think RTINGS even mentions about the performance of the TVs (might be wrong, so feel free to correct!)

While we are not worried about the dirty screen effect or sub-par viewing angles, since it's mostly being used to playing rhymes for the toddler, the TV isn't responsive. Not sure if its the OS, components. This TV has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space, while I'm not sure what the processor is.

You definitely would want to use an addon chromestick/Roku/AppleTV if you don't want to have a blood pressure.

Also, this is a costco specific model, they throw in a year of extra warranty and a HDMI cable.

I actually think this set is a good deal for 65" screen at $350.

I can confirm (and add to) the list of issues:
  1. The backlight definitely lines up with the dirt cheap price.
  2. Google TV can occasionally hiccup because they used a VIC-20 for the brains.
  3. The glass is extremely fragile - take off rings on your fingers before moving it, and have a friend help "just in case".
  4. If there is a screen failure then Hisense will merely refund you and it is up to you to figure out how to get rid of the thing.
Pros:
  1. $350
  2. Picture quality can match sets at twice the price. (Though, yes, $700 is hardly top-tier, but still ...)
  3. Did I mention it is only $350?
If you have $1000+ to spend on a set then look elsewhere. But if you are just looking for something to get you by until Samsung's latest OLED perfection screens get down to reasonable prices then this screen is good enough.

Is it better than this LG 65" UQ8000 at $469.99: https://www.costco.com/lg-65%22-c...70920.html

This LG is also available at my warehouse for the same price.

Any LG TV that isn't OLED has bright grey "blacks", a terrible contrast ratio due to IPS design. I would take a cheap VA panel over a cheap IPS (or even an expensive IPS?) any day.

I had high hopes that these Hisense Google tvs would be better by now but sadly your comments confirms otherwise. I can attest that my Sony Oled with Google tv is incredibly laggy even after multiple software updates. It's frustrating to use. Hisense Roku tvs I've had recently have been excellent with a good interface and no lag issues. Sadly Hisense has gone fully Google Tv on all their new sets.

I use the TV operating system just to control the TV and plug in a stick or a shield for apps and content. I don't connect it to the network either. It keeps the tv OS clean and responsive.

Most of these MFG are cutting corners on the hardware and as a result google/Android TV is slow response, especially a couple of minutes after you power/wake up. If you can wait 2..3 minutes after you power up, you should be good.
My old LeEco/LeTV has a better hardware than these 'new' TVs (granted, that thing will not update its OS for years now) and it is so responsive.
Solution for me is to use a $20 walmart onn device to "replace" the TV's OS.

It was Best Buy and it was a lot of work. I waited for almost 2 hours for my online pickup before they finally told me they didn't have it. That was about a half hour south of the BB near where I was staying. Luckily, the BB 30 minutes south of that one had a few. Fitting it in my small rental SUV was not easy, but I did it and then uncomfortably drove it an hour north.
