I understand because some nights I could (and have taken 15-20 mg) with no effect. I have had insomnia for 5 years now…usually waking in the middle of the night but it can falling asleep, waking in the night, and waking early. (2 hr nights total sleep some nights.) However…my current specialist (doctor, DO) I am seeing says to only take 2mg melatonin max or it will cause other problems and hormone issues.

I started magnesium glycine (I was taking it before but not enough and a crappy brand…stay away from BUFFERED nestednaturals; I recommend 409-600 mg magnesium a day, Doctors Best chelated magnesium glycinate) I take 1 with every meal (100mg) and two before bed. Rarely causes GI issues. It can take 4-12 weeks to reach optimal functioning with magnesium levels. BUT if you don't have enough magnesium (many people are deficient; hard to get from diet unless you are eating cups of pumpkin and chia seeds and spinach a day) you will NOT make enough melatonin, so this is the root cause for most people.

Also, once I looked up potassium rich foods the last week, in addition to the huge improvement the last 4 weeks with magnesium, and made a higher effort to reach RDI with potassium, my sleep reached excellent quality levels! And I have tried everything, everything, everything else the last 5 years.

Hope that helps you and perhaps others; I definitely feel you all on the insomnia suffering. 🙏🏼

At this time I do not take any of it, but 20 mg was my dose.

Take it from someone that used to take big melatonin doses and double dosed Tylenol PM. BTW, I fixed all of this when I realized an ingredient in Tylenol PM can cause early onset dementia. I was losing my memory, bad! I read a study done by MIT (can't remember all of the specifics, but its there if you search) that .3mg was optimal as it raises melatonin plasma levels and it sustains it throughout the day, week, etc. Also, going to bed around the same time, getting out in the sun within 15 mins of waking up (I don't always do this one <-, but definitely actually get up when you realize you're awake), and limiting myself to .3mg of melatonin (which I don't need or take anymore). I now can fall asleep within 5-10 mins, unassisted and wake up 6hrs later like clock work.

Lot of insomnia solution stories so I'll share mine… I usually wake to pee at night and can't fall back asleep. Mind starts racing. Tried a lot of things: melatonin, tryptophan, weed, etc. Nothing really did it. Then I tried cutting out coffee. All coffee, even my morning cup. And boom. A few days into trying that, was sleeping like a rock. I think caffeine has a cumulative effect on me, and even a cup or two in the morning was causing problems. I screwed up last week and had a big Soda at lunch. And of course, I had sleeping problems in the wee hours of the night. So my solution… cut out nearly all caffeine. I drink Green Tea or Decaf in the AM now. Life changing.

Work fine, but: they clump together and harden if you don't use them quickly. Also they are extremely chewy and stick to the inside of my molars. Be sure to take them before you brush your teeth at night.

Why does this look like it's marketed towards children? Labeling, the name etc.

This person brings up a great point. Amazon brand is double the amount but not double the price of this "deal".
