I bought the Intel version of this laptop, and it has absolutely the worst speakers I've ever seen in a laptop. And that's saying something.

The speakers on this laptop are so bad, they have literally destroyed my faith in anything with the Dolby brand on it.

They are literally not useful for anything beyond system notification sounds. At maximum volume, these sounds are not even uncomfortable.

The screen is beautiful, but unfortunately I got unlucky, and mine has really bad light bleed around the edges.

I'm pretty tempted at this price. Ram and windows 11 are literally the only negatives but I'm not sure just how much it would matter if I'm not playing games. The reason it's soldered is because this is a pretty thin laptop (.65")

Would've been a great price if it comes with a RAM slot, an SSD slot, or both. It is a 16-inch laptop and there is plenty of space in it!
It's very thin. That's why it's soldiered. There is an ssd slot but only 1. You could replace the one installed with a bigger one if you want but the ram is non-upgradeable

Actually it's the weird shape extra large battery that takes up most of the space. Also it will be a hassle to migrate the system if swapping the ssd. I'd rather go with ones that offers an extra slot.

I bought one brand new for $600 from the Microsoft deal last year and its still running great. Let the RAM haters hate, this is a solid machine and most people will do just fine with it. So good in fact, that I bought one refurbished for my parents last month from the Ebay deal for $400 (came with 2 year warranty). My mom loves it and its great for simple day to day use. The screen is gorgeous.

Something to note on the refurb machine: TPM 2.0 was disabled (not sure how or why since it had Windows 11 already installed). Once I enabled it through the BIOS, it upgraded to the latest Win 11 software (version 21h2). If you don't enable this, it will upgrade fixes and viruses, but not to the latest software.

I agree with the haters, soldered ram kills this.

If you need 16gig RAM, you probably shouldn't be looking at a thread for a $380 notebook.

I would not buy a refurbished laptop unless it's enterprise grade. Like HP probook or elitebook or dell latitude for example. Those model laptops tend to survive use and abuse way better than consumer grade stuff. If this said Lenovo thinkpad that would be a better idea.

I've bought 2 refurbished laptops in my life. Both were brand new.

My thought with refurbished is that the manufacturer sells these to a 3rd party as refurbished so they can clear inventory without discounting "new" product while also reducing the warranty liability they hold. Like this has no warranty from Lenovo, why would they sell their laptops at a huge discount and then also have a massive warranty obligation? Sell it as refurbished and problems solved.

The ram is not overlapped by the battery. Also, it's extremely easy to clone an ssd. Most SSDs come with the software to do it. You just need another computer and a the ability to plug both drives into it. Actually you may be able to do it with the same PC cloning the drive while it's active but I've never done that. If you have the tools (external enclosures) it's literally point and click though. Anyone can do it.

At 512gb not many people will need to though.

I've bought some stuff through them without issue. Amazon has owned them for over a decade.

Got mine a couple days ago so thought I'd post my initial experience. While the box seal had been broken, the item appeared brand new. Setup did not need a workaround to create a primary local account under Windows 11 - so no Microsoft account was required. I only have a little Windows 11 experience, but this laptop seems to work great so far. Recovery points were turned off by default, so I turned that on. Did a bunch of Windows Update(s) and reboot(s). Next will be to remove McAfee. Not sure what the best free replacement is these days, any suggestions? Another poster suggested turning on TPM 2.0 so next will be to check that. Not a big gamer so 8GB should be fine.

Yea, that's what I do. Now I have to carry around a speaker all the time.

Completely defeats the point of an thin laptop.
