If you're wondering about the midsole, it is perfectly capable in more performance-oriented models such as the 4DFWD or Ultra 4DFWD. I would put 4DFWD up there with Ultraboost (the OG style 1.0-5.0) in terms of midsole comfort.
As with all shoes, personal preference varies from person to person. For me, the cushiony feel of 4DFWD and OG Ultraboost midsoles make them great walk around everyday shoes, but for running, I prefer more stability than what they offer. If that's you, you may want to look into the original 4D (not 4DFWD) models. I like the Futurecraft 4D and Ultra 4D models. They have the low stack height 4D midsole which feels similar to a full-length Asics Gel unit to me. There are also a high stack height 4D midsole models, but I don't recommend those models because they are heavy and not as comfortable, they're only okay at best.

Haven't found other sizes to try in person yet. Reviews say they run narrow, so I don't know if downsizing would start to feel it.
Also, even though the fabric stretches like primeknit, the three thick stitching don't.

Extremely insightful, thanks for taking the time for the reply!
Not exactly these but I have 300+ miles on my ultra 4D's so far and they're totally fine. If anything the outsole is the quickest part to wear on them
I have these. Just take the laces and insoles out and throw them in the washer. They come out looking brand new.
