Ok i think microcenter needs its own subforum.
My disappointment is immeasurable when i see a great deal just to find out its microcenter, and my day is ruined.
I miss the days of the old, massive Computer Shopper magazine when there were dozens and dozens of merchants all competing on price. Consolidation has not been kind to consumers.
People getting these at this point would likely be for budget gaming and everyday use, who aren't necessarily going to get a super high end GPU or SSD where PCIE gen 4.0 would be needed/noticeable. And there's no "futureproofing" with AM4 anymore (makes very little sense to upgrade to a 5950x years from now), so B450 isn't detrimental.

Same with Samsung. Everything is EDU EDP which is probably more rare than having a microcenter next to you. Pisses me off everytime I see it.

Microcenters in these markets:

NYC: 19,768,458
LA: 12,997,353
Chicago: 9,509,934
Dallas: 7,759,615
Houston: 7,206,841
DC: 6,356,434
Philly: 6,228,601
Atlanta: 6,144,050
Boston: 4,899,932
Detroit: 4,365,205
Minneapolis: 3,690,512

And that doesn't include the additional catch area for most of them (read: population within about a 2 hour drive). Otherwise some of them would go up another million at minimum or more. In other words, we re talking probably around a potential market of about 100 million people to draw from across those places alone.
Personally, I think saying microcenter is in LA is not correct. Its not realistic for most of LA to drive down to Tustin to save a few bucks.

I can't speak for the other areas though.

That is no special about MC, no shop would allow you to return part of a deal combo and keep the discount. You could have returned the whole combo. Wrong expectation on your side.

I'm not sure what happened. Did they find it to be faulty? If so, it seems like they should have been able to make him whole. If not, then I guess your solution is right.
