The lat pull down works. But the wheels on the attachment isn't that smooth, so pulling 90 feels like pulling 110. It still works though. Just could use better wheels
That's why the title reads "Optional Lat Pull-down attachment for squat rack".
I bought this last week from Walmart, delivered next day by Fedex. I don't have Walmart+ or anything. Packaging came ripped up but no issues with what was inside. Part of the silver bar was slightly rusted, but doesn't compromise it. I bought the rack directly from BalanceFrom and is supposed to deliver this Thursday, so I haven't been able to assemble it or try it. Dying to use it. Just throwing in my two cents in case it helps somebody.

If the height is the same the only issue Im seeing is possibly drilling new holes for it to fit yours, I've seen one guy do that on a review.
Do you have the link to that review? Considering getting it, if I'm able to make it work on the Fitness Reality X Class cage that was on sale recently.

Does this necessarily need to be installed to the cage or can it be used freestanding or some other way? I only have a half rack, not a full cage, wondering if I can just set it up in the back.

You will not be able to use it without attaching it to a squat rack, or something else. It requires additional support for many reasons, including safety.

Like I said beginner stuff. I can do high rep or low rep on pull ups depending on how much weight I hang off my waist. I am not a body builder and i am not going to sit there and work one muscle at a time. I get way better development for my lats and other related muscles/grip doing weighted pulls up, rather than waste my time with the lat pull downs. I squat heavy, bench press, standing presses, rows etc. Compound movements as they call them.
LOL...tell me you are a "beginner" without telling me you are a beginner. The fact you think there is one route, one methodology, one mindset to training proves it. Heck, you could bench a car and still be a beginner as far as knowledge and practice goes.

There are top tier athletes and "body builders"...who never do pullups. They must be "beginners" too? Your yardstick is the only one the world must be measured by.

I've used kettlebells for years. Many would argue anyone who uses a machine (as a "crutch") to isolate muscles is a "beginner." Others would say kettlebells are a waste of energy, a fad, for beginners, etc or not good use of time because they don't isolate muscles groups. The first step towards not being a beginner is to understand fitness is an evolving science (and an art) that has many routes to success and that success can be measured differently to different people. Clearly not all of us have made it over that hurdle yet.

I am not saying lat pull down doesn't have value to the weak or injured, but with my advanced strength and others like me there are better exercises to do...Admitted when I was weak I did lat pull downs to gain the strength to do pulls ups but that was long ago.
We are very happy for you that you are not "weak." Now, wonder what the "body builders" at the gym would say about you though...perhaps their perceptive is different than yours? Huh...something to ponder.

I have this. Purchased around Thanksgiving of last year. It works great. Just have equal weight on both sides.
