OK if you love the manual labor shaving off wood slowly (faster than sandpaper though).
I was shaving down the end of a fence that was just a touch too wide and scraping in the block post with a similar Stanley at first.
But ultimately too slow and frustrating, so I slapped a carbide tool into my Skil multitool.
Really awesome tool for shaving wood down fast - harbor freight carbide triangle rasp for multi tools.

And got that baby shaved far faster. Smoothed it out with a 120 grit on the multi tool, and done far faster and easier.
Key here is rapid rough takedown with the Carbide grit tool, then fast polish with the 120+ grit sandpaper.
Basically, if you've never used modern power tools, you'd think this deal is a great buy and does a good job. But once you've gotten power tools, whatever. It'll sit on the wayside while the power tools get the job done far faster.
But realistically, either power wash it...
