Is this size usable as a desktop monitor or is it just too big to sit at a desk?

Does this support G-SYNC? The Gigabyte site only mentions FreeSync - but Rtings website says it does both FreeSync and G-SYNC.

IMO, more than 3ft away, you could very well justify the large size. Peoples eyes are different though. I sit about 42" from my C1 and love it.

The big difference is that this screen has a matte like coating vs the C1/C2 glass. I used to swear by matte screens due to reflections on glass, but the color pop on my C1 glass is too hard to ignore and it handles reflections very well.

Both and it has a display port as well to achieve 138Hz if not mistaken

I use the 48 LG C1 w/ a TV Stand that's ~2.5 ft away from my seat and it's perfect. Wouldn't go smaller at this point.

Agreed, I have this and it's 30 or so inches away and perfect for me. I don't think I would but it for general use only, but for mostly gaming it's great

Was interested, then noted it's only got 135cd/m2 typ. brightness. That's quite low, especially for an OLED panel with a matte screen.

Very tempting, I like that the monitor supports Gsync and Freesync. Also have DisplayPort and KVM. It's perfect as a desktop PC monitor.
However, compared the LG C1/C2 series, this one doesn't support Dolby Vision and the HDMI 2.1 ports are limited to half bandwidth at 24gbps. How important are these missing features?

I'm buying a monitor for a racing simulator and was trying to decide between the monitors that have been on sale on slickdeals the past few weeks. I wanted to see the different monitors in person, and I wasn't even looking for this Gigabyte one. I went to Micocenter to check everything out. I was trying to find some the of LG screens (34" widescreen and the 48" OLED), and checkout the Dell 34" widescreen OLED.

I happened to see this monitor from across the store and I can tell you it looked lightyears ahead of any other monitor in the store, and that is even in comparison to the Dell OLED 34" Ultrawide that Rtings lists as their #1 gaming monitor right now. Microcenter is a very well lit and bright store, and this monitor was plenty bright to be able to see it, and looked 1000X better than any other monitor in the store, and I saw them all. This is compared to the Dell OLED, and even the ASUS Oleds that I saw, and all the other non OLED panels. I tried to buy it for $899 in store, only to find out they were out of stock. So I went home and immediately bought it on newegg for $830 (the $100 coupon didn't exist last week). Newegg just agreed to give me a $100 gift card as a way to price match the current promotion.

Microcenter did not have the 48" LG OLED in store to look at. I have to imagine this monitor is nearly identical to the LG 48" OLED currently on sale for around $900. I have read the they both use the same LG panel. Rtings lists the Gigabyte a little better in a few categories over the LG OLEDs. I am not concerned with half maximum bitrate over HDMI 2.1 (I wont be using HDMI). The LG has a max OC refresh rate of 138 fps, while the gigabyte is 120fps. In the end, i decided I was ok with that and went with the Gigabyte for having the inputs oriented in a better way, and for having a little better glare performance over the LG.

Ya, it's like having 4 x 24" 1080p monitors.

I personally use a 43" which is like 4 x 21" 1080p monitors.
