Way too much fluff in the kits. So many driver bits. I will say the 440 kit has more sockets that matter in the drive sizes that you are going to use the most. Decent kit for starter mechanic or someone who wants a secondary kit for a work truck or home garage or a service cart away from the main box.
you are absolutely correct. I found a compare chart because 'Case' wasnt listed in the description anywhere. The compare chart shows No Case for these two sets. However, this has a nice one for around the same price:
The piece count is a joke440piece minus 40 allen keys and 150 bits for the screwdriver and you end up at a sub par 200 piece set.
Depends on your needs. If you have zero tools this will meet more than you're likely to come across for quite some time. A similar, older set like this covered about 85% of my hand tools in one go. Granted, I spent about as much storing and organizing them but that's another story.
Lowe's is the worst place for crap like this. I don't think any of it is worth near what it costs. Tools can be a gray area where you HAVE to pay for the good ones, but the other side of that coin is nobody tells you how much of a headache a REALLY GOOD EXPENSIVE set of tools can save you. Not to mention the cost and time it can save. Bottom line is that you can spend the money and buy it once or spend the money + some buying it over and over again and having to replace stripped screw, rounded bolt, etc. Not that this is the best thing to do in this case but… I digress.

Surprised they didn't add a box of 100 rubber bands to up the quantity of tools by 100.

Probably count the case as a piece too. Joke
