I have had a fenix 6 pro since father's day after it came out (when I got it for $429). I have had it with me on 5 of the "7 summits" and many other climbs, I run and train daily. It is an absolutely amazing watch for people that train hard and often and don't want to charge their watch every 5 minutes. I am very used to the button controls and never missed a touchscreen.

BUT the heart rate monitor is and has been garbage. It's not the hardware itself, but the software. During an activity it often predicts what your heart rate should be rather than use the actual reading. I have had tickets with Garmin about it and there are thousands of posts on the forums about it. Of course you can buy a separate monitor (which for some reason are not overriden by the watch). I personally train too much and know my body well to care anymore (and I can check my pulse if needed myself), but if you care about your heart rate during your workouts, plan to buy a separate monitor or look elsewhere.

That said, getting over 3 weeks of battery life in expedition mode or still charging once a week with 2hrs+ of activities almost every day after 3 years makes it in my book the best watch on the planet. I have not looked into the Fenix 7 because the 6 is very similar and getting most of the software upgrades.
considering the price difference between the Garmin Fenix 6 and 7, I don't think the 7 offer's enough new features to justify the price difference. The Fenix 6 is still an excellent watch.

I had the same issue with the fenix 5x. I went through 2 of them before deciding to move on. Fast forward 2 years and I decided to try an Instinct Solar. The heart rate monitor on this watch is spot on to my chest strap monitor. Not sure what's up with the fenix line.

I've never experienced any issues when I've tested wrist HR to chest-strap HR using Fenix 5, Fenix 5+, nor Fenix 6 Pro.

Chest strap has more capabilities and is generally more accurate and reliable, but the optical wrist HR was typically within a reasonable margin of error as expected.

Not good at all, pro was $330 two months ago. 6X was about the same price.

Been a Samsung watch user for years and currently have the watch 5 pro. I've always wanted to try out a Fenix X watch but the price point was just to high for me. Amazon also has the Fenix 6's on deep discount. I just bought the 6x Sapphire for $400 with prime 2 day shipping. From what I've researched, the biggest upgrade with the 7 is the touchscreen and slightly better battery life. Not worth the price difference to me.

Lol a Samsung watch? That's like wearing jewelry, I ditched them when they got rid of MST. Bad battery life, lack of apps on tizen, health tracking feature inaccurate, even with the move to AW still battery life sucks. Even a Fitbit 2 Sense went for $88 in Amazon one helluva device

I have the Fenix 5 Sapphire edition since it came out and still not a scratch on it. Best watch i have ever owned. Highly recommend the Sapphire version if you are worried about scratches.

I love my Fenix 6 Sapphire! Got it for $350 during the lead up to Black Friday. I refuse to wear a smartwatch that I have to recharge daily, this one goes a week which is reasonable to me. The always on screen without backlight is very usable under any normal lighting and impressive under strong lighting (eg, outdoors). The watchface is very customizable and notifications mirror my phone. I especially love the golf mode with free global course maps, I've used this frequently. It's only been about three months now but it still looks brand new and there are plenty of third party watchband options (I swap between three, very easy to change out). I actually like that it uses buttons vs touchscreen as that prevents accidental activations. Garmin is also still actively supporting this watch with updates and adding features. The only negative is that Garmin Pay takes too much effort to use but I did set it up "just in case."

The 7 has the latest generation sensor array, the 6 has the old one.

I have the Fenix 6 Pro Solar (Sapphire not available for solar with this model). I upgraded from a Fenix 3HR Sapphire. Just as said above, the 6 is a great watch. HUGE upgrade from the Fenix 3. I don't find it that heavy as someone above said. I don't sleep with it though as with the way I sleep it causes to much discomfort.

For the screen, I was really worried about not getting the Sapphire and getting scratches. However, I have dinged this watch against many doorknobs and metal fixtures and I still don't have a scratch on the screen. I've been very happy with the durability of the screen.

I got mine about 1.5 years ago, refurbished for $350 if I remember right. It and the battery are still going strong!

I have Venu 2 plus after running the comparisons of everything from various websites it's not much of an upgrade, in fact a few websites make it look like downgrade.
So I will keep it for now and be very happy with it.
Will wait for Garmin to run some deal with trade in options for Fenix 7 .

Owned Vivoactive 3, Fenix 5X Pro Sapphire and now Fenix 6X Pro. On steep climbs heart rate does not increase as it should when my heart rate should be. Hopefully improved on Epix 2. Thinking of getting the Garmin $60 hr strap to see if that helps.

Have the 6 Pro Sapphire (I think). Best watch I've had. Use it for working out, mostly run and swim. This watch is a beast. The sapphire glass works very well I have dinged the metal frame a time or 2 and the glass on the watch has still yet to even scratch.

If my watch broke today I would have a new one by the end of the week
