One of the worst airlines with the worst crowd. You basically get what you pay for.

How does this work exactly.

Also does a good complicated if you have a family since you have to get four or five tickets at the same time

Agreed . Flew them last week and they cancelled my 9am flight home at 530am. Had to pay 400 plus to get another flight home as they had no backups

It works if you just want to get away (TM) and don't really care where you're going. It doesn't work with a family unless you've somehow blocked off vacation time and are ok with planning literally nothing beforehand and don't mind spending time in the middle of nowhere

It is interesting reading the comments from some folks on here that really loathe flying with them. My experience with them has not been bad and I've flown with them cross country from East to West Coast and back.

With a little bit of planning, your trip can be a very cheap way of getting from point A to point B.
  1. Don't want to get charged for a carry-on or check a bag? Get a small bag that fits their dimensions for the personal item and DO NOT GO OVER THOSE DIMENSIONS! Do not overstuff. Be Smart
  2. Stay hydrated. Take an empty water bottle through TSA security. After you are cleared, go to a water fountain and fill it up.
  3. Take food. You don't have to buy food in the airport. Bring your own snacks and lunch.
  4. Be comfortable. Bring a neck pillow, eye mask, and good noise cancelling headphones. Makes the experience much better.

If that isn't your cup of tea and you are fine with paying hundreds more for a flight heading to the same destination, have at it!

I only wish I lived closer to an airport that had Frontier so I could take advantage of this.

The problem is that other flights are hundreds of dollars for people who at least need a carry on. The amount of b.s. hoops to book flight with the options one needs is ridiculous and the pricing from my $39 flight went up at equal to or more than that of better airlines. Why bother? It's a bus with wings if you can manage a personal item only but that's the only use case I can see these game players competitive at.

To each their own. I calculated my cost that it would actually be cheaper for me to buy "throw away" or give away clothes at my final destination than taking a carry-on. If I were visiting family or going somewhere for a while, it would be cheaper for me to order all the items I need and ready for pick-up at a Target at my final destination than it would be for me to take a carry-on. And I'm including toiletries!

But I get understand. Flying a budget airline isn't for everyone.

That's sad that its more efficient to buy clothes at your destination but you're not wrong. I had that revelation recently when contemplating a move across country. I have maybe $2-3k in possessions, tops. The cheapest method of getting all my stuff moved is still about $5k. It is literally cheaper to just sell/donate, and start over.

My comment applies to Frontier/Spirit/Allegiant -

Only use these carriers if your travel plans allow you a LOT of flexibility. They cancel flights ALL the time and are not dependable if you have to be somewhere time sensitive (cruise, wedding, job interview, or have other travel plans contingent on them getting you there). You definitely get what you pay for, unreliability being one of them!

I am OK with Frontier but this wild pass is rediculous. You have to book your return flight one day before your return date and if there is no return flight available you have to find a place to stay... I will skip...lol..

I used to fly Frontier in the mid 2000's and had no issues, they were on par with Alaska. They pulled out of the local airport so I haven't flown them since, but a recent move made them an option again. Flying them to LAS tonight and after reading up I'm regretting the decision, it seems like they're trying to be the worst in the game, I'm unreasonably stressed about the personal item allowance considering a carry on bag is more than twice the flight cost. Hoping for the best for this trip and then I'll avoid them going forward.
