I wonder what that means. If the "material defect" shows up by using it in a 1400 ft-lbs impact, was it my fault or the material? Will I get a new socket?

I have yet to break a Taiwanese made impact.
Thanks! The SAE are also on sale. $20 for both sets but you miss out on the deep sockets. I only have a 3/8" impact so these two are better for me!

The 10mm is missing before you get it. It's less frustrating that way.

you are talking a $30 set vs. $100 set.
What I noticed as soon as I got them in my hands was that the sidewalls are very thin, most are thinner than my USA Craftsman chrome sockets.
I have only used one socket extensively on a pretty weak impact with no problems yet, but to be honest I am expecting them to start shattering once I use them on a bigger impact.
I also own Capri and Sunex impact sockets and they are much thicker, with the Sunex being the thickest and looking about as thick as my friend's MAC impacts. I wish I'd saved my money and just got another Sunex set for my SAE longs.

Also Cr-V vs CR-mo is an age old comparison. Cr-V is less ductile than CR-mo and will have a greater tendency to crack under stress.
CR-mo will deform and mushroom out more readily than Cr-V over time.
From Tekton's site -
Chromium-molybdenum and chromium-vanadium produced with equal care and hardened to similar levels have highly similar mechanical properties. In fact, they are almost chemically identical, the main difference being far less than 0.5% by weight in the form of molybdenum or vanadium. Therefore, we cannot say that either chromium-molybdenum or chromium-vanadium is better. Either Cr-Mo or Cr-V is an excellent choice for all normal uses of wrenches, hand-driven sockets, impact sockets, ratchets, and other similar tools. The metallurgical difference between Cr-Mo and Cr-V is insignificant in these applications. Instead, the consistency of the material, the tool geometry, the hardness to which it is heated, and the design and implementation of the manufacturing process control the differences in hand tool quality.
