I use these and they work fine. I wish they had a model of only the smaller notches since most of my gear is on the lighter side. I would recommend, they work fairly well.

i have one of these and it is just OK. you really gotta jam them in there for it to stick but it does work. half of the spaces are for heavy rods. anything less than medium wont work in those wider spaces.

Worth a shot (no pun intended.) Assuming these holders mostly fit "heavy" rods as others have mentioned, I would be willing to guess it would fit the shaft of a golf club. Good idea, by the way!
