80s wants their salty anti American mfg comments back
Tbh, almost every time I've paid extra to buy something that's made in America, it's a worse quality product, has less features, etc. The one that really sticks out in my mind were the American made wire strippers... They offered two fewer gages of wires and the steel quality was as bad or worse than the $7 pair (at the time, now they're like $4)) from HF, which cut better and cut more gages.
Does anyone know what the wiring coming out of this looks like?
Wondering if it would be possible to hack it onto an eBike.
It says H4. Google "H4 pinout" or "H4 diagram" and it should be pretty obvious.
As far as I know, all of these Chinese LED headlights are the same. There are at least two styles. This type, then the ones with three round lights up top, four rectangular in the middle, and three round ones on the bottom.
I ordered a Sunpie (looks the same as this one) back in July, 2020. I bought an SPL 80W 5.75 at the same time. Both have held up fine for several years of use on a dual headlight V-twin motorcycle (not Harley).
Lol, everybody asking if this "can be hacked into ________?"
More than likely, yes. It's a simple switched power and ground. If your vehice is 12v (virtually everything is, but it for some reason you're already living in the future on 24v, then good news, this is rated to 30v!), and the power to your light is switched, then yes, you can hack it in. Mounting/making it fit may require more effort. Making it look good? That may be out of most people's realm of possibilities...
If you have lights that use CAN signals to command them, you will have to hack in your own switch to the power wires to make it work. This will likely throw a minor code as the vehicle will no longer see the OE headlights on the network.
As long as it's not made by Lucas or any corporate descendents, it should be fine. The lumens are sorta reasonable for ideal conditions. Which probably won't be found on a bike, but that's life.
