If you prefer Green iced tea, you can get 72 gallons for $12.48: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZYRDCY

For the Green tea, each "family-size" tea bag makes 2 quarts, and there are 144 tea bags (six 24-packs).

The way it's written (even on the packaging), I can't stop picturing a box of individual tea bags which are each one gallon in size.

Would this be good for kombucha? I usually drop 9 tea bags in. I ask because this says specially blended for iced tea so not sure what that means.

This is generic black tea leaves, grounded for North America. they call orange pekoe, even though the term is misused here.

nevertheless, if you have been using cup bags, this is the same tea.

This does not apply to you, but I've found with the Lipton gallon bags I cannot microwave the water at the same time this bag is in the glass boiler because these bags will pop from the internal steam.

I have to place the bags in after I boil the water, which to me gives a weaker tea.

FYI. The supersized tea bags are just sitting in the box without any sort of air-tight bag, so I would highly recommend you place these tea bags in a one-gallon ziploc as soon as you get the package.

I've never had that problem. Maybe you're leaving it in the microwave too long? I put a few cups of water in the pitcher...enough to cover the bag and a bit more) and microwave about 3min 30sec. After I take it out of the microwave, I let it steep for a bit.

I've never had 1 burst in the 15-20 years that I've been doing this.

Mine from last month's s&s were expiring mid Feb 2023 just FYI. Wasn't a deal breaker but maybe the reason they are clearing.

With the great value ones, I was leaving them in 6 min. So, about the last two and 1/2 they boiled constantly. With the Lipton ones, yes that is too long.
