Dying and returning, thus the name, is part of this game and essential to the story. Once it clicked for me that unlike other games where death is something you want to avoid and a sign of failure, this is a game designed for you to die, it's unavoidable, and the storyline advancing involves you dying, I started to get it and enjoy the game. This was the game I played most upon first getting my PS5.
BTW you do make some progress every time you play in that your weapon progress is stored and not lost when you die, so you are leveling up that particular weapon each time you use it. Even if you die and turn off the system, if you pickup that weapon again in future play throughs, it'll pickup where you left off.
Your weapon and level makes the difference in how challenging the game is. Like the default pistol is pretty powerful once fully leveled up. I gotta mention the Electropylon Driver, that weapon felt like a cheat code in the game at times as beating some enemies was almost too easy with it.
They dont require you to die 50x at all. They require you to.. git gud.
This game looks well made, but no way in hell am I ever playing it. Hate games that require you to die 50X before you get past a level. Evil Within, Souls games... I've made the mistake of buying those and not finishing them. Not doing it again.
That being said, great deal. Repped/thumbs up.

Agree, this is a great deal for anyone who wants to play rouge like style games.
But make sure you understand what you're getting into because it's not like a typical sci-fi shooter. I don't mind playing hard games (beat & platinumed the souls games) but when you play a game that just makes you start over from pretty much scratch it just wears you down so quickly.
It all just depends on how you view these style of games, they're designed around it so there are some things to help keep you up the progress, but don't get too attached to any specific rifle or anything lol, you'll prob lose it a couple min later.

it's just an artificially way to inflate the hours of playtime, same way metroidvania games make you walk through the same hallway 100x time before actually having the key to open the door to the next area
Yeah. It's on the Extra tier. It got great reviews, but I don't think it sold a lot, partially because of the $70 price tag, but also rogue-like games don't have mass appeal. This should have been no more than $50 from the start. I personally can't stand it. I've tried going back to it on a few occasions (I really tried to like it) and I find myself uninstalling it the same day I reinstall it.

Agreed. I heard raving reviews about it but no amount of gameplay videos made me want to try it, it just seems too tedious.
It's on clearance already? Definitely didn't expect it.
I use to work for Best Buy and they do this pretty often it's ether to get rid of extra inventory or because they're' about to release a special edition.
