Yes, very. All you have to do is label the zone with sprinkler head on the rain bird wire, then take down the hub, install the Rachio and connect the wires. Very easy.

Yes, very easy.

I also highly recommend that you get a surge protector/battery backup on this.

Last year I had a power outage where the power came on, then off right away a few times before it came full back on and it damaged my Rachio.

Got it replaced through Rachio and when it happened again in the fall, the unit was not damaged on the battery backup/surge protector that I bought.

Picked up an 8 zone even tho I only have 3 zones. Tired of running back and forth from controller to front yard when testing sprinklers

You're going to love it. The amount of time and effort saved by being able to turn on and off zones with my phone while making small adjustments to my sprinkler heads was a game changer for me.

that's what I use it for along when I am blowing sprinklers out for the winter. It's amazing how useful and convenient that portion of it is

I bought one a couple of years ago. It was very easy to install and runs flawlessly. Make sure you get the correct version by counting your existing stations. After that all adjustments are made via the app. You can also manually run a station from the app.

"Manually run a station from the app"

Very helpful when you get a camera notification while at work and see your neighbor, who doesn't clean up after, letting its dog shit on your lawn.

Checkmate, asshole.

Just remember that this doesn't work with all sprinkler systems, so you may need to spend an additional ~$50 on a pump start relay, depending on the type you have.

Most likely you have one already when they install your sprinkler system. I never seen a sprinkler system that comes with it.

Looks like you need another case to go over this if used outside

Great deal, just take a picture of your wires and zones so you can match the colors of the wires. Super easy to install

Can't you get brand new ones on eBay for essentially the same price?

Personally I would rather a refurb with 3 month woot warranty + 12 month credit card warranty than a new one from eBay with no warranty.

How's this compare to the b-hyve? Weather delays and responsiveness aren't great on my b-hyve.

I've been using a Gen1 Rachio for many years now. I was hoping to install a flow meter at some point, but it looks like that option is gone now and I don't really need local control from the panel. Given this, is there any real reason to upgrade from Gen1?

You will be happy to know you can still use a flow meter with the 3rd gen units. It is a wired third party solution that works very well. I have been using it with my Rachio for a couple of years. EveryDrop 1004-EX: 1″ IRRIGATION FLOW METER and you can find more info here: https://everydropmeters.com/produ...l-1004-ex/
