So can someone clarify if there is a difference in quality in the Sherwin-Williams that is sold at Lowe's and the paint that is sold in the Sherwin-Williams store? Because the prices are significantly different.

Also, I'm in the process of buying a house, but afraid to jinx anything. Can I buy say 5 gallons of untinted and after closing come back and the color I want?

The paint sold in Lowes is the HGTV line of paint. That should be the same whether bought at Lowe's or SW. There are different product lines exclusively at Sherwin Williams that you can't buy at Lowe's that are higher quality. Top of the line Lowes SW is not as good as Emerald. Also, in my experience, Sherwin Williams is much more knowledgeable on their products

Thanks for confirming that. I read that at a few different places, but wondering how true that was. I can say I have never had any issues with the SW at Lowe's, but since this on sale, and assuming I can buy a 5 gallon bucket and bring it back later for coloring, I might as well get some from the SW store itself.

Agreed. I've used a lot of the HGTV paint. 35 gallons of the exterior paint and 10 of the interior. It was very good paint, and I have not had any issues with it. Really, the only paint I've had issues with is the actual SW paint, but that can mostly be attributed to the primer not stopping the tannins in a shiplap ceiling. All it took was a picture and a receipt, and they replaced the ceiling paint and replaced the primer with a better primer that actually stopped the tannins. My last project was with Emerald paint purchased during one of their 40% off sales. That was definitely worth the extra cost. Applied easily, hides well, looks fantastic.

Interesting, it came up invalid when I emailed it to myself too, but saving it to Google pay worked for me.

Confirming just bought a bunch of untinted paint that can be brought back for coloring when we're ready. Also confirming that my local Sherwin Williams had mistints and returns that were 6 bucks a gallon.
Also can confirm that a few additional coupons were stacked on top of this.
