Seems high for the brand and non-OLED. 75" models from lower end brands have been hovering around $500-$600 for a while now. Does this models features warrant double the price for a Hisense?

Yes, read some reviews on the U8H series.
Personally still holding out for a decent deal on the 65 inch.

This is better than every Sony LED and everything Samsung Qled except the 90b. It's an excellent value.

Check out the U8H series on Rtings. You may be surprised what you find with this model, at this size and price point.

Rtings.com has the U8H very close to, or rated above, even several OLEDs. The closest competitor in terms of features and picture quality would be the Samsung QN90B. That one is $2300 for 75". Some reviewers had the U8H as the #1 LED tv of 2022.
The main feature differences compared to $500-$600 tvs would be:
QD quantum dot color
Mini-led with 528 dimming zones
4K resolution
HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision
120Hz refresh rate
2 HDMI 2.1 ports and 2 2.0 ports
Most $500-$600 75" tvs will have none of these. The only ones they may have are 4K and maybe HDR. QD and Mini-led are the big ones and you absolutely won't find those on anything cheaper in this size.
I got bestbuy to price match, I gave them the tv link and the zip 11572 (which is several states away from me, and not where I am having it shipped, and the agent said they could match the price
